NexPad is a multi-document viewing solution with the simplicity of Notepad, but also with some extra polish to increase efficiency when working with many documents at once (multiple text files, multiple html files, etc.).
Note: Requires Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0
.NET Framework 2.0
- Change: "Go to Line" is now a toolbar like "Find" and "Replace"
- Change: Compiled for .Net 2.0 Final
- Change: Moved tabs and toolbars to top of window (more ergonomic)
- Change: .xml file no longer used for settings. Values stored internally (my.settings)
- Change: manifest file no longer required (application.enablevisualstyles)
- Fixed: Clicking go in "Go to line" with empty pad would give unpredictable results

You all can trash this NexPad all you want but I've scoured the web for a notepad with tabs and they just are not out there. If you know better, please tell me where. There's Notetab Pro, but have you seen their absolutely pitiful selection of 5 or 6 fonts?!! Same with others. I'm a writer and sometimes have several drafts going and get confused between the drafts merely using Windows Notepad when going back and forth between them via the taskbar. Maybe this NexPad is limited, but it's the closest one yet to what I need. My wish list though: I wish that one could rename a tab via a right-click menu instead of having to save the text file first to rename it. Secondly, for some reason NexPad seems a bit slow in opening up. Other than that, I'm a fan of NexPad and it can only get better. Thank you for NexPad!!!

Slow and useless. Very little programming skills needed to create this app...

I agree with everyone else: a .Net notepad replacement is not a good idea. It requires you to install the massive framework, and it makes the application slower, thus conflicting with the only arguments which could go in favour of this application.
I use Metapad myself, a pure ANSI C, light package, which is what a notepad replacement should be, and there is no way I'll ever consider Nexpad.

Nope, sorry. I've got to agree with the other reviewers -- NET for a simple notepad replacement is so not cool. Yes, I like WinPad, MetaPad, KeyNote Lite, EditPad Lite, NotePad Lite, etc., etc. I could go on, but I've better things to do.
