Awesome software. You can do stuff the officials don't want you to do with it so they label it as a virus. It is not a virus but they want to scare you into thinking it is.

I love Nir software, but I could do almost the most the same things by downloading and putting them all into a folder.
-1 Star for not having all Nir Apps in it.
-1 Star for not trying to help hide your nir software. 7z or RAR with no compression will hide from most antivirus until you load the software, extracting to run wlll at least disperse the warnings instead of giving you 50 (just making up a number) of warnings at once, and take up almost no extra programming effort. Using a specific folder for that would make adding an exclusion rule easy as it already is (yet still annoying).
-1 Star because if this program was perfect, it would find a way to randomly encode each file differently on install, and avoid all the false positives completely. Perhaps doing this in one database type of file so it's not just an incomplete gui.
==Conclusion: This program is lucky I didn't take off another Star since I could have made the same thing in VBScript using a HTA file, and it would be better then this. Look nicer and be more customizable while friendlier to use at the same time. another 1-2 hours later it would be dynamically pull every app and description on the webpage so it always had everything up to date, if though so chose.

NirLauncher is continually great software, each utility does what it says it does without any frills.
I have to agree with DrTeeth though, as I've learned from experience there's little point in contacting the developer (Nir Sofer). On the few occasions I've contacted him about a bug or a wish-list suggestion he's never even acknowledged the correspondence.

Pros: Promises a lot of features.
Cons: I extracted and ran the software and got a ton of virus warnings. Immediately deleted the software and cleaned up my machine.
Bottom Line: Definitely won't consider downloading it again.

@Peeps. Read what @Hilbert says.. (3 posts below).
Then look at the list of rejections by NOD another 2 posts below that.
>>> Look at the names of the .exe files In the list.
Files with those type of name (view, sniff, pass) are gonna raise Alarms.
Not by their names lol ... Because they are Intrusive/Invasive.
The code in those files WILL be seen as malicious by any Anti-Virus.
If your A/v doesn't trigger, I would Seriously think about an A/v change.
Open candy & toolbars are a Damn nuisance, But can be opted out of during
Install. "OR" Learn "how to" Unpack Installers if you want better Safety.
The Tools in the Nir package are Very, very good. & noobs can learn lots by Trying/Using them. The launcher is useful for categorization. Personally I don't use it. ALL apps in this package are Safe to use.
The only Crap in there is OCSetupHlp.dll (open candy).
My list (below) was posted as a reference for Peeps/Members to check against.
I shred the files I listed (& others) because I don't need them.... Keep Safe.

As usual, NirLauncher is first class software. Nir Sofer's programming is consistently good and uniform. Whenever I reinstall my machine NirLauncher is amongst the very first software to be installed.
__
@ some guy:
I read your link with supposed list of NirLauncher viruses. Now you should (a) read the info about false positives on the NirSoft site, (b) also read my earlier review of NirLauncher 1.17.03 dated Oct 30, 2013 (hereunder), and finally my review of Cain & Abel 4.9.47 dated Nov 26, 2013 here:
http://fileforum.betanew.../Cain-Abel/1167230606/1
By definition, this type of software (from any vendor) will attract antivirus software because its signatures are similar to crudware. They have to be otherwise the software wouldn't work (i.e.: get your passwords back etc.)

I'm sorry! But, I can't help it; I gotta say it. When I see an outstanding assortment of utilities such as NirSoft (Nir Sofer) utilities that should have a 5 Five across the board rating, but doesn't because of both Stupid and Lazy reviewers it just pisses me off.
For the reviewers that uninstalled it because it lit up their antivirus; get a brain. NirSoft utilities contain no viruses or malware of any kind. As some other reviewers have already stated if you don't have a clue how good NirSoft (Nir Sofer) utilities are then it's probably just as well that you don't have them installed on your computer because they are only dangerous when used by those that don't have a clue how to use them.
For those that prefer WCSS over NirLauncher, well umm, err, ahh, perhaps you haven't noticed that WCCS contains as many NirSoft utilities as it does SysInternal utilities. I have both these installed. And I don't use the auto-updater either. I don't let any program on my system update itself; for good reasons too.
For those that cry for an updater I have to ask just how hard is it to download the current version of NirLauncher or WCCS open the .ZIP file and extract the file to the proper folder. One of the reasons I like this is that if any of the utilities that is removed from one version isn't in another I still have those utilities on my system as it only overwrites files that are already in that folder. It just doesn't take that long to download it and install the new version; not much more than a minute of my time. Just my opinion of course.
But my opinion is that NirSoft Launcher by NirSoft (Nir Sofer) is an outstanding assortment of utilities that all together rival utilities that one would pay a great deal of money for. But, I also have WCCS installed as well. It contains both NirSoft and SysInternal utilities, and both are a piece of cake to install.

Hilbert reviewed v1.17.03 on Oct 30, 2012
This is an excellent set of utilities targeted at those who know what they are doing. That Nir Sofer has packaged them into a launcher adds to their convenience. I've used them regularly for ages.
@ Selieod
If you do not understand why antivirus software targets NirLauncher and other legit utilities that modify/target security settings etc. then it's unlikely these utilities would even be useful to you. You could also read the website which also explains the reason.
BTW, some AV software correctly identifies NirLauncher as a potentially dangerous hack tool--not a virus. Many utilities are potentially very dangerous but are not viruses, format, fdisk, partition editors for instance.
Selieod reviewed v1.17.01 on Oct 9, 2012

It would be nice if all NirSoftware were not seen as mal-ware by most AV's.
HeilNizar- I see your updater does not have an auto-update though it is up-datable?
HeilNizar reviewed v1.15.06 on Jul 11, 2012
Here is an updater for it, written by me
http://browse.deviantart...kins/windows7/#/d56y45g
@Music4Ever (The guy above.. hehe)
It sure does, options - Check on startup ( silent ), that will check for new version of NirLauncher on startup and if available will apply automatically.
It also checks for an update for the updater itself every time its launched and if available it will prompt the user to apply updates.
I'm going to use the same code to release updaters for few programs, MPC-HC, 7-Zip, PDF-XChange and more.
By the way, I contacted your NirSoft guy and he never replied.
coolticker reviewed v1.15.02 on May 27, 2012
Like @mizkitty said, NirLauncher is a nice tool but I see no interest using it against WSCC that do the same and also manage the excellent tools library from SysInternals, and of course there is an auto-updater for all thoses wonderfull tools to keep them up-to-date.
Long life to NirSoft ans SysInternals excellent tools !
Music4Ever reviewed v1.15.01 on May 18, 2012
Hey everyone HeilNizar is writing an updater, when it due for testing put a link on here & we can all try it - Hope it's not long but as it will only take 20 minutes sometime tomorrow would be good.
Problem solved. EDIT: I've emailed Nirsoft to let him know you are joining forces with him so you can mail him the update program when completed - Nir seems quite excited in having a partner working for free with expert programming knowledge ~
EDIT 2: ~ it's now the day after tomorrow so HeilNizar should now have released his Nir updater. ~ Please post a link so we all can try it ;-)
I'll check again Monday.
@ HeilNizar ~ You just don't get the point do you ~ You don't give one of the best set of windows utilities there are (which you obviously still use) two stars or in an earlier review one star just because it doesn't have an updater.
The utilities are free, with no ad-ware, spy-ware or nag-ware. Be thankful they are there & if you are half as good a good programmer as you think you are provide your own set of utilities with an updater ~ So either put-up or shut-up & either will do ~
An updater would be nice but until Nir decides to write one I'm happy to use this free set of tools just as they are ~
I await your set of utilities & when they are available I will apologise unreservedly ~ I really can't see that happening though, can you?
I really hope you don't use Linux as we really don't need ungrateful people like you in that community.
You really deserve to get flamed & I will continue to do so if & when required ~
HeilNizar reviewed v1.15.01 on May 18, 2012
Author, stop being lazy and write an updater, it shouldn't be a problem for a talent like you.
I could write one in 20 minutes.
Edit:
@Music4Ever, send me a copy of NirSoft reply and I will release the updater.
Music4Ever reviewed v1.11.55 on May 15, 2012
It's not exactly a huge download each time there is an update, it is all free & some very useful tools therein - An updater would be nice but I find it hard to knock such a great set of utilities because it don't auto-update.
If I were the developer I would be lees than pleased by criticisms & would evaporate you all ;-)
darkwzrd1, you sure about the MS link or are you thinking of another set of utils?
mizkitty reviewed v1.11.55 on May 14, 2012
Use WSCC to update NirSoft tools. It will also update your Sysinternal Suite dir at the same time.
Has a nice UI for both groups of utilities...marking favorite utilities...etc.
darkwzrd1 reviewed v1.11.54 on May 7, 2012
It's getting a little ridiculous to constantly have to download updates every week. A Auto-Updater should be there priority, it would be simple to implement especially for a company that belongs to Microsoft.
andy2004 reviewed v1.11.50 on Mar 31, 2012
create package of tools, but as someone else has mentioned downloaded all 12mb worth of files is a little stupid, really needs an updater program, personally though I use WSCC which allow the update of both these and systeminternals suite.
Good idea if your paying a certain amount for your bandwidth.
mizkitty reviewed v1.11.47 on Mar 12, 2012
For all those complaining about no updater...just point WSCC at your NirSoft directory and run update.
WSCC can also update your Sysinternals directory at the same time.
reviewer reviewed v1.11.46 on Feb 28, 2012
an updater would be nice rather than downloading a ful 12MB each time, BUT still 5 stars

Uriel reviewed v1.11.45 on Feb 20, 2012
This application can help you get rid of hidden cookies and stuff that even Microsoft likes to hide for marketing and forensic purposes. I can see why antivirus firms would want to detect this app and falsify it as a trojan because if it falls into the wrong hands it can be used for hacking projects. But it can be used for good purposes too. And this is especially true for techies.
k12-IT reviewed v1.11.44 on Feb 12, 2012
@CeeJay, A lot of these programs are password sniffers and other network/file utilities that are going to be caught as Trojans. If you really want to use the tools as I do as an IT admin I turn off my AV while DLing and using these tools.
These tools are very useful in running an IT department.
HeilNizar reviewed v1.11.44 on Feb 11, 2012

To rmlewis72:
First check what the malware identified by MSE actually do (Google the name of the "virus", "Trojan", "Hacktool", etc.). Next, review what operation the specified Nirsoft program performs. Finally, compare the two functions. SURPRISE!! The evil program identified by MSE finds passwords. The Nirsoft product helps you,... find your lost passwords.
Terrible!!
Other identified virus, trojans, etc. in Nirsoft programs are the same. Antimalware products look for "suspect behavior" in software code. Sometimes, such "suspect behavior" is something you actually WANT to do.
