   OMG! about bloomin time. I remember rumours of novell doing such a product about 5 years ago!!! doesnt really apply anymore though, as Iv given up on Netware directory services/novell directory services/edirectory/whatever its called these days and just stick with active directory.

   I bet a lot of the comments on this will be comparing it to Trillian, ICQ or AOL, and most will miss an important point:
   
   Messenger is clearly designed to be a serious business tool, with features like security, confidentiality, integration with an LDAP directory, and being able to set up conference calls (conversations with multiple participants).
   
   Businesses can use this to provide secure instant messaging for their employees as a service complimentary to email.
   
   So if you're wondering why Messenger isn't skinnable or is lacking some bells and whistles, it probably wasn't designed with you in mind.
   
   The security features of Messenger are of great value! Instant messaging is a real headache to network administrators because of ports, loopholes and security holes, but this software promises to provide instant messaging without the grievance to businesses.
   
   Messenger is surprisingly sluggish when importing contact lists and needs to get more polished than it currently is.
   
   In the end this is a great tool to compliment email for businesses with employees, especially if they are on the road.
