Pan is a newsreader which attempts to be pleasing to both new and experienced users. In addition to the standard newsreader features, it also supports yEnc, offline newsreading, article filtering, multiple connections, and more features for power users and alt.binaries fans.

When the layout is configured, Pan has a really nice workflow with its keyboard shortcuts. Does NZB well, too. Just needs small tweaks like the ability to pause PAR2 files and virtual folders. Although NewsLeecher runs fine on Linux, I switched to Pan because it's superfast and memory efficient.

I was looking for a more updated substitute for my excellent Gravity.
Unfortunatelly, althought the program works quite good, it requires GTK+ runtimes, which IMHO is a big drawback.
Reviewing 0.110 Beta 21 (Aug 28, 2006)
For Linux I'd give it a 5 since it's clearly the best option for that platform. For Windows I prefer Newsbin Pro 5.x, but there are several others (Windows) that beat out Pan as well. I wish Newsbin and Newsleecher, etc. would provide a port to Linux, but that's another topic entirely.
