For Linux I'd give it a 5 since it's clearly the best option for that platform. For Windows I prefer Newsbin Pro 5.x, but there are several others (Windows) that beat out Pan as well. I wish Newsbin and Newsleecher, etc. would provide a port to Linux, but that's another topic entirely.

Wow.. An old friend. I have this guy on my Linux box and use it all the time. Not as good as some of the Windows offerings but a good USENT client, light weight and handles binaries very well.

WHY? It's not the most intuitive to set up and does nothing that Gravity or Thunderbird already do.
