So impressed with this I've ditched ESET & now use the pay version of Panda, light on resources & very configurable along with good interface. Gets good results on AV tests. Great program.

Although I use ESET SS on my main PC I have been most impressed with this running on a second PC - Most reviews of this AV have been excellent & IMO you wont go far wrong with this as an AV solution !

P.S - My girlfriend got pregnant soon after installing this product so beware & if you use Panda take proper & reinforced precautions.

Once again CyberDoc999 reviews something so low, that I rate so highly. In the AV tests I have read, this software has consistently been rated exceedingly highly and I have to say, out of all the free AV products I have tried I have found it the best to use, both in terms of ease of use and performance.

This is a very good antivirus and it does not have a low test rating at all, it is one of the highest. Some of you write this junk here and you have no idea what your talking about and you do not help anyone by doing that, it just shows how foolish you are. I have no problem with Panda at all and if you go look at their test ratings, they most certainly are far from the worst. Grow up.

@CyberDoc999: I don't know where you get your benchmarks from but that's NOT TRUE (what so ever) and just because you don't know how to use an application doesn't mean it's not a GOOD product. Stop writing useless reviews.

Its actually one of THE BEST FREE AVs and beat Kaspersky in malware blocking and malicious URL blocking test. Actually USE and RESEARCH a PRODUCT before posting a negative review. Also the PRO version is an excellent product, they even have a 6 month free trial available.

I recently switched to Panda Free Antivirus after experiencing a few minor problems with Avira Free Antivirus, which I'd been using for several years; I reported the bugs to Avira and they informed me that they've ended official support for Windows XP and will not be addressing the bugs. (Avira still lists Windows XP in their System Requirements, but the Web page they referred me to does indeed show that Windows XP support ended on 08 APR 2015: http://www.avira.com/en/support-product-lifecycle )

In any event, I'm glad that I switched, as Panda has so little impact on my system's performance that it's almost like having no antivirus program installed at all: my computer starts quickly (with no warnings or errors on my Event log), programs launch/open quickly, and files open/load quickly. How well Panda is protecting my system, I haven't a clue, but it tests well in the various antivirus tests I've seen on the Web.

Panda is easy to install and setup and allows the user a reasonable amount of control over the settings. Big items include customizable scans, a scheduler for scans, and exclusion lists. The Update feature is automatic, and I don't believe that it can be turned off(?); there's also an on-demand "Update now" button. I'm guessing that "updates" include both virus definitions and program updates. Major features -- Real-time protection, Process Monitor, and USB Vaccine -- can be turned on and off individually, as can many smaller sub-features. The Windows 8-ish control panel GUI is more designed for fat-fingered users of touch screens than for handsome, erudite users of "classic" desktop PCs, but it's straightforward if not very elegant. Power users will no doubt want more control, but Joe Average users with slight geekish tendencies will likely be happy enough. Also, I haven't noticed any pop-up ads or anything of that sort ... only some notes/links on the control panel encouraging me to upgrade to Panda Antivirus Pro (which adds a firewall and Wi-Fi protection).

I signed up for a Panda account, but I'm not quite sure if that's required or not -- the program seemed to work fine before I signed up. Signing up requires an e-ddress and password but nothing else, though Panda does politely ask for your name, address, phone number, etc. (which I did not provide). I haven't received any junk mail from them yet.

I've tried out many of the well-regarded free antivirus programs -- AVG, Avast, BitDefender, Comodo, Panda, and one or two others -- and Panda is clearly the least performance robbing of the bunch on my machine. BitDefender is pretty good while it works, but it's a bit touchy and quits auto scanning after a week or so on my machine -- though it works without a hitch (and has for over a year) on my dad's newer Windows 7 machine with SSE2+ CPU. AVG, Avast, and Comodo slow my computer quite dramatically, with even the simplest things (opening the Start menu or Windows Explorer or Notepad) being annoyingly delayed. I suspect that my ancient CPU's lack of support for SSE2 and above may be the problem in some of these cases, as a lot of newer software works better with, or even requires, a CPU with SSE2+ support, so users with a newer CPU may not encounter these problems.

Can't ask for anything more... It's probably the best FREE antivirus out there. It doesn't slow down your PC and is very light on resources. It was the best in detecting and removing malware just a few months and has been in the top 5 for over a year. It's cloud based which it updates it's malware files frequently so no need to worry about new files having to downloaded. It might be missing a few features and options that others have ( you would have to pay to have them) but if you are looking for a sound and secure and easy to use "install it and forget it" antivirus I would suggest you try Panda Free V 15.0 4. It really does a great and I assure you that you are PROTECTED and for a price you can't bet..... FREE.......

BIG improvement since my last review. Manual scans work fine now. Get alerts when virus(test file) is found. However, the alerts are not quite immediate sometimes, with the file going to quarantine and getting an alert up to a minute later sometimes(mostly if doing a couple files nearly simultaneous together). This AV is VERY, and I mean VERY LIGHT on the system, and believe me, I've tried many others in the past. I now use this paired with Malwarebytes paid version and free Comodo Firewall, along with 'Excluding' Panda and Malwarebytes from monitoring each other, among other files and processes in the background I know will always be safe, like WinPatrol(paid version).

Kudos to Panda for coming up with an AV app that I can FINALLY be happy with, and the best part is, this one's free. Hopefully they don't mess up a good thing, at least for a few years anyway, and given today's constant version updating cycle with software, that might be asking for a lot.

Just to note, an issue came up installing via the web installer, and others have complained of this too. The offline installer is currently available here...

If you do have trouble installing with the web installer, it will then have you download the offline file. Also note, it does ask to make Yahoo the home page among a couple other things, and as per usual, best to uncheck them before proceeding to install.

Updating my review with the new 3.0 version. The new version sports a new UI but loses a lot of features from previous free versions like Data Shield and Parental Control. Surely these will be included in the pay editions, which is business, I can't really complain. So now the free version is *very* basic, similar to Bitdefender Free or MS Defender.

Absolute garbage. Thought I had a winner regarding speed and performance until I did manual scans... Partial selected folders or full scans... Always hung up at 99% done. Even a repair installation didn't help. A Google search shows I ain't the only one to come across this glowing flaw. Also, no pop ups when I click a known infected file(but harmless nonetheless). The file does fail to load however, but that is it. Nothing else. No query to clean, repair, etc... Absolutely nothing, so it's absolutely pointless to even try this POS any further.

If I could give 0 stars, I would.

ive read the reviews, and they seem to agree that this works best to maintain a clean system, less so to clean an already-infected one.
i use it on a couple low-end laptops that don't get used much. best features are that it auto-updates even major versions, and virus defs update on the fly (no more 30MB downloads after only a month of inactivity). i'm impressed.

Update: Have used several versions for last few months and it seems to work. Haven't done any testing against malware but it doesn't slow my computer noticeably or use too much memory. Will try to test against possible malware but I don't normally purposefully search for such things.

Just a warning ... I had a BSOD and the message was related to psinprot.sys which is panda av related. Will be uninstalling to be safe. Maybe I'll try again in the future ... can't risk damaging my new machine.

Downloaded, installed, and though there were no errors or other problems, this "lightweight" a-v program made my system come to a crawl. Admittedly, the system I tried it on was not one of my four core machines, but a single core Athlon 2200+ [this should be a good test for something lightweight!].

The system was slower and much more sluggish than with the Avira 10 Free version I had removed, so, with a few hours of trying, off it cam and back to Avira 10 Free, which allows the machine to be snappier all the time - including when the full system scan is running.

Although i believe cloud is the future but Norton after making the most bloated junk for years has now an excellent AV in NIS well worth getting.. With coupons you can get a 3 PC license for £16.

Far too many false positives. How to rely on such an insecure security tool ? If I followed this invader's decisions I'd remove at least a dozen applications unanimously known for their quality, including some of Nirsoft's !

Once very promising free product, now it has the nag screen. Besides, it moves considered as malware files to the virus chest without any notification. So, if one day you will not be able to launch your favorite program - check if it's blocked by this antivirus.

Seems, that they used previous free version (1.1) just for the promotion and testing purposes.

Thanks, there are a lot of much better free alternatives.

This is a very good program with even further potential for improvement. HOWEVER, until release 1.00 all you had to do was install it and away it went. Now, to install it you need to submit an email address and password then verify by clicking on the email they send you. I consider this to be a very serious error in judgement by the techies at Panda ! This long drawn out installation will now stop the vast majority of computer technicians etc from installing it on customers' machines. Silly mistake boys - its back to AVG and Avast for me !!!

I've been using this on several computers for some time now, and I love it. The lack of 64-bit support sucks, but I was in touch with a company rep about it and it will be added in the future. This latest version supports Windows 7, and I have no intention of using any other free AV package for any of my 32-bit installs.

"Wow Factor" We run(used to) Avast4.8@home until yesterday. Having installed the Panda Cloud,it's freed memory,and save the first 30 minutes trying to settle in has been ZERO HEADACHE. I highly recommend this freeware to anyone with xp home, it is a real treat and the detection rate is high. My copy killed 1 running virus Avast was missing and a full scan picked up 2 trojans and a tracking cookie from go.com in my thunderbird email program. Total thumbs up here!

A really great antivirus. I´ve used AVG cause i´m a gamer but AVG give me to many false positive and i´ve been infected tow times.

So i try with Cloud. And is perfect! It´s really soft, doesn´t use sources and big protection for a small soft.

Easy to use and cool desing to armour the pc against virus. It use cloud computing that is the future of software.

It´s the best AV free in the market now for me.

I tried this "program" once before and I thought I'd give the new version a try.
It has not improved. Sure it scans fast, but what exactly is a generic Trojan (a real scan result), plus it doesn't actually remove or neutralize a threat. It kind of just tags it, and then I have to tell it to let me access, delete, etc. Plus, like most scanners it slows down / effects every operation, so all activity from boot up to shut down take an obvious performance hit.
And that really blows when you insert a CD, DVD or USB Flash Drive. Speaking of which, if it finds a file to be dangerous, it will not remember the result for the next time (and a new scan) plus it never finishes the scan so those older results are listed as "incomplete."

More like the program is incomplete, especially the on-line help, on-line results and the event viewer log it created. The latter contained lots of blank entries that it created on every major file access.

Thus far too buggy to be considered a security benefit. No 64-bit support is PATHETIC in this day in the age of 64-bit OS's flooding the market, as well as 64-bit hardware controlling the masses.

It's free, so therefore cannot complain too much.

Keep working at it dev team, you have a long way to go before this becomes reputable.

I like it so far. The detection rate is no worse than my old AV, and the low memory use. If you like beta software, this is for you.

Pros: Low memory use, no massive updates streaming into my PC. Average detection rate.

Cons: Buggy. It is no isolated occurrence for the antivirus to crash and have to be reactivated. Performance with zero-day samples is getting better, but nowhere the 6 minute estimate panda gave.

I just got an active infection of several viruses and malware including vundo. All this program could do is report a problem with one or two files, claim it had neutralized the problem and then a few minutes later report that the file, that it had just cleaned, was infected again.
