Wonderful, helpful, educational program! It keeps getting better and it's still free! We need more free educational programs like this and like Celestia, which is an open source real-time space simulation, also found here on FileForum: http://fileforum.betanew...l/Celestia/1011341455/1

The author of Periodic Table would like people to email him with questions, suggestions and general feedback. He REALLY wants feedback, so please send him an email, even if it's just to let him know that you use Periodic Table and appreciate that he made it! His email address is on his website if you click on the "contact" link on the top of the page.

PS - I recommend downloading the "Extra" version. It's still free, but it has high quality pictures of the elements instead of small pictures like the "standard" version has.

The most comprehensive and easy to use Periodic Table program I have ever SEEN! I am so depressed that I didn't have this in Highschool and my freshmen year in college.

A beautiful piece of software. Very interesting even though I last studied chemistry 30 years' ago.

    6/5 in fact.

If you are using a desktop with a resoluton of 1024x768 or greater then feel free to use the standard version (link to the left). If however, you are using a desktop resolution of 800x600 or greater then please download the 'mini' version, this has all of the same features and content but has been designed for smaller desktops.
    download mini version (1.95MB)

This would have been handy in school.
It took me a few seconds to realize that for the 2D orbit display you had to double-click the left-side. Amazing program though.

    About orbits:
Orbits don't really look like they do in the diagrams. Diagrams are just handy ways of representing energy states of electrons, although at one point they did think atoms acted like planets around a star (most people still believe this despite being proven incorrect over 70 years ago). Here's a few great links at Wikipedia:

Great program. I've looked for something like this over the years.

Set up and operates fine. Good looking and well organized. Have not detected spyware or adware at install. Window seems to be locked to a size that is too big for my screen with no way to adjust it. FUTURE: Allow window to be sized to user settings or make user adjustable. Typo in Gold; cooper/copper. Could switch An with A#. Nice work Paul!

Very nice. It's especially helpful to me as a Chemistry major.

One thing, though: on the FileForum page, the size is incorrectly specified (it says 208KB, but the actual setup file length is 2189989 (about 2.2MB).
