Process Lasso improves system responsiveness during periods of high CPU loads. It does this through dynamic adjustments to process priorities. This feature is called ProBalance, dynamic priority optimization. Instead of boosting foreground priorities, which is ineffective and potentially detrimental, Process Lasso temporary lowers the priorities of select background processes when they may be interfering with system responsiveness. A graphical demo is available on our site that demonstrates how this feature can save you from a total PC stall in a worst case scenario.

Process Lasso also has a host of other features. It can automatically terminate undesired processes, apply default priorities and CPU affinities to processes, limit the number of instances a process can have, prevent PC sleep while specified processes are running, enter High Performance power scheme for specified processes, log all processes, and much more. It is not at all a task manager replacement, but does have task manager like capabilities to compliment its primary functions.

This is the 32-bit semi-free build. It never expires, and core functions such as ProBalance, default priorities, and default affinities work indefinitely. With this semi-free edition, you may have to tolerate some non-intrusive nags, and advanced features may be disabled over time.

Keeps on improving, well worth buying even for a mulitcore CPU with heaps of RAM. great program. It was noticeable by it's absence when I accidentally removed it in services last week.

Unfortunately after running it a couple days, every time it started, it had a nag screen it forced you to close first. Plus other than the controlling of priority, it does nothing else for free and behaves uselessly coupled with a lean and controlled pc to begin with.
Maybe someone can figure out it's free benefit. I can't.
Bill2's actually has some nice usefulness I've discovered being able to kill processes that have no ability to do so themselves.

I remember when this truly was crippleware, and now this latest free version has things which never expire. It works so well for free that I'd pay the price just for further development. Thanks for losing the crippleware and making it useable.
This allows you to 'tame' processes that don't need much resources and control the others that do. With many different combinations of aps this can be quite useful indeed regardless of your hardware.
I am now using this in combo with bill2's process mgr. Lasso has ability to set i/o priority and class separately, while bill2 only sets the class but it does have other options such as shutting down a process after a period of inactivity or starting another after one is closed which I suppose you will get if you pay for lasso. The nag is just a small buy now button in the bottom right corner which is fine.

GerritWittesaele, & if your PC is top notch, this program still offers real benefits even on Windows 7 with a 100 Megabit Fibre connection.

GerritWittesaele@ remember - Brain in gear typing before um typing.

BTW It's well under £20, are you that skint?

Basically, Process Lasso is a VERY VERY light weighted software. I have tried several other similar softwares, but they really cannot achieve what Process Lasso can achieve. Basically, Foreground Process Thread Priority Boost is unique, and cannot be found in other similar type of softwares. One software called "Process Priority Master" which claims itself to be the best, I have tried it myself but it's nothing but just a bloatware, a real example of bloatware. It takes like 30%+ CPU in the background all the time !!! Jeremy never claims his softwares are the best, because Jeremy has a good and professional attitude, which we all should learn from him. I can tell, no other similar softwares up to the current date, performs better than Process Lasso.

This software is NOT crippleware. 99% of the features in the Pro build are also in the free build. If you take the time to look, you will see this is true.

This program is crippleware. I would rather use a lesser program than a crippled program.

    to your post us3r:
you rated the software with two and speak as if you never tried the software for yourself - talking only about that the price is too high for you to effort and not even mention a free alternative (cause there is no). I really wonder what those commends should cause, why and for what ?

This program doesn't offer much more than similar tools which are completely free, yet author want almost 20$ for a copy whether you are commercial user or home user or student. The life time license doesn't speak to me since I remember the development of these application stopped like for two years around version 2.0.
