Name too similar to Secunia PSI. Should change name it is confusing.

Pointless. Several times larger than Miranda and one millionth the feature set.

Nice jabber client, but neos is much better

I cannot give it 5 since .11 version uses three times more RAM than .10 due to the fact that a new PSI version depends on both Qt4 and Qt3 libraries.
Other than this glitch, PSI is probably the best Jabber/XMPP client around. You can also chat with your AIM, MSN and ICQ pals via Jabber transport.

Try JAJC first...

There's only two good IM clients: Psi and Miranda.
Psi (Jabber) way is to use one solid client and one protocol + number of gates to cross-protocol compatibility.
Miranda way is to use one modular client with native support for multiple protocols.
I used both, they're great. Just a matter of philosophy.
I hope, Psi will get plug-in system soon, that's the one thing i miss.

There is a good reason for PSI to exist: open standards and multi-protocols compatible. From a screenshot on the PSI web site, it could even encrypt message. That's cool. I hope this will make the Jabber open protocol more popular and may be, one day will bend the proprietary protocols towards the standards.

Psi is great. One of the first Jabber clients I've used because it was the only one to be unicode compliant. However, I hate how you have to authorize everyone, etc, if you forget to turn on auto-authorize before you connect >< Furthermore, since it doesn't import the groups you already have for msn/aim/icq etc, it just makes a huge mess. But this seems to be more a Jabber downfall than a Psi one.

Well, it works.
There's not a ton of reason for it to exist though. It brings nothing new to the table that isn't already in a selection of other Win32 IM clients. And it doesn't have the clean and polished look or feel that some others do have.
For a platform like Mac it maybe has a legit place (where there aren't 4839048902345 IM all-in-oine clients already), but for Win32... meh, I'm just not impressed. It's nothing I haven't already seen in a bevy of other programs.

It's not very "User Friendly" to set up,
It's not the best GUI ever,
But with it, I have all my Jabber, ICQ, AIM, MSN and Yahoo accounts working exactly the same on my Linux and Windows with a "non invasive" GUI.
For me, a must have.

netean, did you even download or USE the app? If not, what exactly are you rating?
It's very good. However, last I checked, there was a bug in jabberd2 which prevented it from cooperating with Psi. :(

great screenshot,- note to submitter: postage stamp size shots aren't very useful.
the jabber protocol is a nice idea, but no one uses it compared to aol, msn and yahoo.
From the screenshots on the site, I think it looks rubbish. (looks like a linux app to me - UGLY)

intresting, but i agree.. useing miranda or gaim is better... jabber is just to odd. However the program rates a "4" cause it is the best jabber client i have seen!

ok I gave this progee a 1 for the fact that after I installed it followed register new user, put user name pass in for new account it says must end in blah@host...
well if i need to set up a host or server that should be the first part not the second, just tomuch hassel to set up.

Probably the best Jabber Client! I love it!

Still very nice Jabber application. I'm using it a lot in Linux. BTW you can also download it with emule and similar ED2K applications. Links are here:

I have friends who use different instant messengers (Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, etc.) and installing all the stuff was really painful. I decided to switch to Jabber/XMPP, and my friends did it too. Some of them could not do it, but I can chat with them anyway. I tried different Jabber clients, I love Psi because I can use many servers simultaneously. In general, Jabber is much better than any other solution.

Very nice program, however, it may be difficult for some who wish to set it up to work with other IM parties such as MSN or AIM. People who are not familiar with Jabber will need to goto Jabber.org to help them find a good server to register with that will provide all the services they need as well as find another client (if they don't like Psi). I do recommend this to Jabber Junkies that know what they are doing. It provides a nice UI and many features. All they need now is a better default icon.
jrepin reviewed v0.9.2 on Jun 11, 2004
I like it a lot. Jabber is the future of instant messaging. And it is also known as internet standard XMPP. This is my prefered IM client in Linux, but in Windows is still like Just Another Jabber Client (JAJC) more as it has more features.
