QT TabBar is a tab bar for Windows Explorer. It allows you to operates files and folders like tabbed browser: folder grouping, histories, etc.
Reviewing 1.2.3 Beta 5 (Jan 28, 2009)
This app adds the functionality that should have been in windows explorer.
Its seamlessly integrates with no slowdown and I've never had a problem because of it.
I highly recommend this one

This is a true 'WOW". Add QT adress bar and spend 5 minutes to configure it and you'll end up with most of the best of added functionality other Windows Explorer replacements offer. I'm amazed at how much customization is being squeezed out of Windows Explorer. I now have a breadcrumb adressbar, gridlines in the main window, fully configurable tabs, a wonderfull subdir tool and more all within xp's own explorer. Oh, as a finishing touch, add foldersize 2.4 to top it off. Last but not least, Quizo is constantly developing his apps and he takes (feature) requests too! P.S other that the initial slowdown by foldersize's calculation, the QT has not slowed down explorer a bit. Stability is top too.

I don't know how I have lived without this. It is simply the best add-on one could have!

Hey - this thing is pretty cool. I hope they get it working with Windows 7 soon.
I would also like the ability to locate the controls for this ABOVE the address bar in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
It just doesn't look right to have the address bar Above the Button Bar, you know?
In fact, I wish these folks would expand the app so that it lets you customize all the dialogs and folders in the OS so that every time you open Windows Explorer or do a File Save or Save As, these options would all be right there by default. Saving configurations and layouts and such.
Very cool concept. Hope they keep improving it.

Lots of beta goodness minus the quirky funkiness of the shrinking search box. :P
Quizo...the toasty software developer. ;)

The perfect explorer replacement replacement! (I meant it that way!)
Reviewing 1.2.3 Beta 2 (Dec 15, 2008)
The performance improvement in this beta version is really noticeable, mainly in context menus & tab handling.

Have used in BOTH xp and vista for years...with never a problem...
this is a can't do without app.

Glad to see the project is alive. Somehow the problem mentioned below disappeared after install this new version :D.
Thanks a lot for your work Quizo.

Crash when you jump from one tab to another if one of the folders is located 1 level deep or more in a removable device.
C:\data => X:\files\docs = crash
I reported this bug in the author's forum, not answer or fix till now.
Otherwise, yes, it's a little bit slow because of .NET.
Reviewing 1.2.2 (Feb 6, 2008)
After using an old build for a while (.06?) I recently upgraded to 1.2.13 and was deeply impressed by the improvements the author had made in the meantime. I prefer this little utility to full-on Explorer replacements like X2 and Totalcommander purely because of its tight integration into the existing Explorer.
QT TabBAr's added functionality is very welcome, and all without any noticeable reduction in speed on my Athlon XP 300+ system.
The author also has a companion utility to spruce up Explorer's Address bar too, giving it the 'breadcrumb' ability used in other OS' - using that with QT TabBar is *highly* recommended.
Reviewing 1.2 (Dec 26, 2007)
Very cool. Except I use freecommander's dual pane explorer. If explorer had a proper dual pane i would ceratainly install this. BUT, freecommander has way more power than explorer so kinda moot point.
Reviewing 1.2 Beta 4 (Dec 19, 2007)
Awesome! Can't live with out it. Quizo just keeps making this better. :D
You must have .NET 2.0 to use this, otherwise you can't even install it. If you have .NET and it's corrupted somehow, look for NET Framework Cleanup Tool, run it and re-install .NET.
Reviewing 1.2 Beta 4 (Dec 17, 2007)
i used to be a great fan of this, but due to a global windows error related to .NET programs not working (not until next restart), i was forced to get rid of it.. if we dont count that, it's still .NET based, which means slow.. i dont want to wait 3-5 seconds to start windows explorer
Reviewing 1.2 Beta 4 (Dec 17, 2007)
I love this... now if it could also have a decent-sized History function...
Reviewing 1.2 Beta 4 (Dec 17, 2007)
Simply brilliant, and generally functions perfectly. The only possible improvement I could imagine would be to add a "delete" button to the Vista explorer bar...
Reviewing 1.1 (Sep 12, 2007)
Tabbed explorer, what is there not to like? :)
Ive been searching for alternative to explorer for a while but the problem has always been 3rd party programs that integrate them selfs into windows explorer do not simply work on the alternative. Programs such as TortoiseSVN etc. This is the strength of QT TabBar, it works as part of the explorer instead so it doesnt break already existing windows explorer integrated programs.
Ive only countered small problems, one of which was the missing "folders button", which was added in the latest release.
Reviewing 1.1 (Sep 8, 2007)
Still a great program and with the introduction of the file operations Cut, Copy, Paste etc that it was missing from original explorer toolbar it just got even better
Gerhard get yourself a decent computer :\
Reviewing 1.1 (Sep 7, 2007)
Makes Explorer behave like a tabbed browser. Great stuff. As for the .net aspect: get over it or keep it to yourself, if it's too hard for you to understand stick to dos.
Reviewing 1.1 Beta 2 (Aug 1, 2007)
There's always one in every crowd: a lot of stuff won't run w/o net framework... especially for serious, professional use.
Anyhow, w/ how powerful computers have become, it's a non-issue-- just do a little hooking on the side if you can't afford a new one.
As well, the aim of this author is to improve & add functionalities to major windows components(check out other offerings onsite), NOT to create tiny substitutes with lesser resources, at perhaps the expense of lesser functionalities.
This has been one sorely-needed app....accepts plugins to boot.... major KUDOS!!!
Reviewing 1.1 Beta 2 (Aug 1, 2007)
This program is scary sweet. For a complete (fictive) six star rating I would like there to be nicer highlighting of tabs under Windows Classic Theme (the blue line doesn't blend in well). Big "thank you" to the author! :)
Reviewing 1.1 Beta 2 (Aug 1, 2007)
OMG this Program rules as do the other ones on his site Love it it does what it says I recomend you guys get them
Reviewing 1.1 Beta 2 (Aug 1, 2007)
About time this program made it to BetaNews. This is one of the few vista-toolbar programs that actually work, without any performance issues at all! Absolutely no problems installing or uninstalling, and works without any flaws. Performance is quite good too- didn't even slow down my P3-450 system :)
Reviewing 1.1 Beta 2 (Aug 1, 2007)
I have been looking for a program which will add tabs to windows explorer for years. Thank god this was made! One of the first programs I install after a format.
Thank you for making this!
