QuickMessenger is a utility designed to send and receive messages from one computer to another one or a group of computers via the local area network (LAN). It uses the "NET SEND" command of Windows, you can thus send messages to anyone, even if it does not have this program. It can "capture" the incoming messages and you can reply simply and easily.

Best NetSend GUI application. Can capture messenger service window and a lot of great options/features!

Ridiculous. This is nothing more than a GUI designed to wrap around the Messenger Service in any NT based PC. it doesn't work for Windows 98 because that service was never included in the 9x kernel. Additionally, the messenger service and net send commands became obsolete and a security risk, and so the later service packs disable this service by default now... making this software utterly useless and a complete waste of code. The guy that wrote this must take the real systems admins as complete morons, and anyone who thinks this program is worth using is a fool.

Good concept for a quick and easy LAN messaging service, however, you've probably picked the worst service to build on. When a net send message is received, it is logged in Event Viewer. A IT Cattle-herder like me would have major issues with this application.

Fine program in theory, except that unless I am mistaken you need to keep the "Messenger" service enabled. This is the same "hole" that people abuse in XP to send you annoying spammy messages telling you that Messenger service is open and thus you should buy their product to close it because its "unsafe" (which is not necessary, pay nothing!).
IF this is using the same service and you wish to CLOSE this "hole" in WinXP, simply get a 100% FREE program to do it ( http://www.mmgui.com/messagestopper/ ) or do it manually in your services by disabling the "Messenger Service" to stop THIS program's messages AND other spammers over whom you have no control as you do with a REAL Instant Message program.
