spiked said it well: It's not crucial but it sure makes life easier when you use it. I love being able to visually discern which values are strings and which are expandable strings. And editing with RapidEE is must easier and less error-prone than using the System applet.

Not a must-have tool but definitely convenient and well-implemented. I was going to criticize the absence of "Move to Top" and "Move to Bottom" on the context menu for editing PATH variables with many entries, but then I discovered I could simply drag and drop to re-order them.
