This patch will modify "IO.SYS", "COMMAND.COM" and "REGENV32.EXE" in order to unhide the Real DOS-Mode on Windows ME systems, resulting in a similar boot process to the one available in Windows 9x. This will allow, for example, to reach DOS directly by pressing "Shift-F8" at boot-up, to use "CONFIG.SYS" and "AUTOEXEC.BAT" before Windows loads, and to set up a startup menu.
- Allows patching of non-standard versions of IO.SYS and COMMAND.COM. This adds full compability with non-US editions of Windows ME and might also allow to patch other (future or previous) builds as well

Windows ME is a great s***!!!!. The only reason to hide DOS is create a better visual aspect. But the best way to control any machine is the shell. You can write faster than you can move your mouse. Y2kFox you are a silly kid!!!
Three points for the patch, god job!!!!

This program is great!
Attention Morons:
The M$ Windows 9X line of software is a Shell, running on a somewhat old OS called DOS. DOS stands for Disk Operating System. The 'new' Windows ME features some nice visual upgrades, and even a few real ones.
So here's the thing.... Windows 9x and the like are like a giant bloated file manager for DOS that adds support for new features and stuff, but is still a shell.
By The Way - DOS was originally a hack of CP/M, Which is why Billy boy Gates would like us all to forget it exists (He helped write DOS... which I have NEVER seen crash... Windows on the other hand...... oh well. LEARN!!!!!

Well I am sure that this s*** does what it is supposed to but what a crazy idea..

Ok look, you whiners. Microsoft hid Real Mode DOS in Windows Me for your own good! DOS causes the majority of crashes in Windows 95 and Windows 98/98SE. Hiding DOS was a godsend. Your computer will start faster, shutdown faster, and perform faster with less crashes.
All you people out there whining about how Microsoft hid DOS for no reason, and how this effects your precious 1990 DOS games and Sound Blaster settings NEED to catch up and upgrade your hardware. ALL hardware now on the market has Windows 9x/NT drivers. Save up and go take a look. In the next version of Windows DOS will be GONE... so if you must continue to enjoy it, leave Windows ME alone and stick with Windows 98.

FINALLY something to fix that god awful "feature". WinME doesn't eliminate DOS since the 9x core is mostly based on DOS as a main OS, it simply hides it. People who use 9x and enjoy pure dos namely for its extra memory to run old DOS mode only programs should be thrilled for this since WinME does add a semblance of stability to a buggy UI. People who don't know what DOS is or thinks it's the cause for all the UI crashes, steer away from this. You'll just hurt yourselves. ;)
