This should win an award for the most false positives ever
it flags lots of files that are part of windows OS....
then it tells you that the free version will not delete these false positives...
so you have to pay money to ruin your OS...

How does this type of company stay in business?

I guarantee that all the 5 star reviewers work for this POS company.....

I am a regular PC user. I joined BetaNews/Fileforum to write a review for those of you that are maybe less experienced than I am and considering installing this app:DON"T INSTALL THIS THING! Not only will it de-stabilise anyone's system but the results are simply wrong- your sys32 files are necessary for keeping the Operating system trouble free and intact. If you never had to reinstall your OS before you will after using this junk/useless application..I am in fact, wondering what the authors are thinking putting this out there..it is UNETHICAL at least, and a joke at best.I think they want to make money off the unsuspecting ( there is a paid version) or somehow gain access to people's PC's and use them as bot machines..there has to be some ulterior motive connected tothis or it wouldn't be free and put out there for novices to install not knowing the ramifications of modifying important system files that this app marks as 'malware'..Please install a safe anti-virus and removal application- This is definitely NOT one of them ! .Keep Looking or install Microsoft's Security essentials ( I have zero connection to Microsoft nor any allegiance to the company- in fact more closely, disdain for their monopoly) if you can't pay for security suites or real time protection and a removal solution...Nonetheless, this app is not to be trusted whatsoever...

This program should remove itself. It should be considered malware.

I tested it in a sandbox virtual machine that I have intentionally infected, and it didnt pick up even the older infections. But it loves to find false positives, and will do it even with a fresh install. The average pc user wont know this and will just blindly allow it to "clean" those false infections. It is then only a matter of time until the user's windows install becomes corrupted.

I will assume the rave reviews are either shill, or people who just don't know any better. Fileforum needs a -1 rating for Dangerous.

Do not listen to the 5 star reviews.

This program is a joke and hasn't detected a single virus that I've had to deal with. I work in IT and received this program from a coworker. Tried it out several times and was in awe at all the System32 files marked as viruses (atleast 11 on each computer). I ran this on a fresh install of Windows 7 and it returned 17 infected System32 files.

It failed when I ran it on a simple virus that pretended to be a windows 7 antivirus program located in the user's Temp directory and this program passed right over it, yet it declares that 20 System32 files are dangerous or infected.

This program is awful, and will only do more harm to your computer.

Used to place a good deal of trust in this app,but now I am less trusting because of what it tags as a virus, even more so after scanning my system32 folder with multiple malware apps none of them identify any of the same files as viruses, and one one occasion when I let it fix the "infected" files it caused all sorts of mayhem with my system. As a result I view what it finds with a large grain of salt now.

Used it and seen what it does. As with any anti virus etc. You have to check and see what is being written as a virus. I like everything about this program, but if use super anti spyware. The program ssupdate comes up as a virus. And that is the only problem I have found with it. Ssupdate is a part of Super Anti Spyware. But there is a virus named ssupdate. Just have to go and find where the files are located.

False Positives aren't the half of what ails this app's definitions. If you monitor the disinfection recos, over time you're bound to find:
- OEM driver files marked SAFE by this developer ... but flagged as malware.
.... and by OEMs I mean such no-account entities as Intel, MS, or Nvidia.
... and by SAFE I mean files that continue to be acknowledged as such ...
... yup, by the same folks who suddenly decided, um, no they ain't.

- System and other SAFE files tagged as malware owing to sharing the same filename as mailware.
... so what's a little matter like subdir differentiation?

- Components of SAFE antimalware apps tagged as malware.
... oooh not anticompetitive ... Yet Another Bad Bobble?

- User FP reports being acknowledged ... then later ignored.
... Merge/Purge? Our def's don't need no steekin' Merge/Purge!

- Tagged files that are styled KNOWN TO BE UNSAFE.
... but what they really mean is THAT'S WHAT WERE CALLIN' 'EM NOW.
... i.e., known being the functional equivalent of listed ... NOT verified.

Put all that together and what you've really got is Falsified Positives. Effin Ps by any other name.

You know, it's a heckuva bigger noise when your malware scanner almost always finds nasties the other guys don't. Who cares if the rest cross-check their defs and pay attention to canonical file locations?

Unwary users can get themselves in trouble aplenty with this. If you've installed this app, time you heeded the true message of its moniker:
REMOVE IT PRONTO !!!

Intention is good result bad.

Took Removeit for at testrun, found 16 files and tagged them as dangerous, only problem, every single file are good file, and if I'de had quarentine the files I would have crippled my system.

Nothing but FALSE POSITIVES.

My advise, be CAREFUL with this pile of ****.

After reading many negative reviews about this software I just about didn't try this one. My nephew's gaming habits gave his computer virus and Trojan infections so sever that his computer wouldn't' boot up. I first tried Dr.Web CureIt from safe mode with some success as I was able to boot the computer in normal mode afterwards. Thinking that the computer was clean until I reinstalled avast! Home Edition onto the computer which once had it until I'm guessing a Trojan uninstalled it. After the reinstall, avast! Home Edition started throwing popup at me so severely that I couldn't do anything with the computer. avast! Home Edition couldn't clean these infections so I uninstalled it and tried Trend Micro Online House call. House call detected many infections also but couldn't clean them either. I then decided to try Remove It Pro SE as I figured I had nothing to lose. Remove It Pro SE detected 14 infections and quarantined over 140 files. I rebooted the computer and ran a full scan again for the secnd time. Tomy relief, the computer came up clean. Just to be safe, I ran Trend Micro's Sysclean from safe mode and Sysclean found only one infection which it successfully deleted.
I am very impressed with Remove It Pro's performance. IT WORKS! If you have infections, try it because you have nothing to lose. Remove It Pro successfully quarantined all infections and only missed one and outperformed all the other mentioned cleaners with flying colors.

Someone saying that a program is "Crapware" always leaves me suspicious of the motives of the reviewer. Personally, I find this program very useful and rate it a 5.

RemoveIT Pro tagged six false positives and nothing else. Two were from the RegRun suite, Three from an expensive plugin to Photoshop that could have crippled it had I quarantined it. The last was from my Bookworm game that needs to run for me to play.

In all it was fast. It didn't help me find any "missed" infections. I prefer SuperAntiSpyware as my backup scanner.

I am inclined to believe that a lot of the raving about how great this program is at finding malware that no other program has been able to find is do to identifying harmless files as malware. I also suspect it may be identifying files by name only.

RemoveIT Pro found on first scan a file by Creative Technology which it claimed to be some kind of virus. The file was proven to be legitimate when compared to an *identical* file known to be virus free. It also identified the comparison file as a virus. The identified file also tested clean with two anti-virus programs and four known to be reliable malware programs.

It requires a lot of effort to determine if a file is a true virus or a false positive. I have read forums where as many as seven false positives were identified on a single first scan by this program! So much for RemoveIT Pro, it's gone from my system.

On this page you can see the product is "(Free for non commercial use)" Perhaps this would be a better link to use for the product home page.

Also be careful and do not delete a component without being sure it is malware. Case in point css32dll.dll is not always a Trojan/Backdoor on my system it is integral to COMODO SafeSurf.

States here - freeware - but you have to pay $15 for a license to use it! On Home Page the only free thing is a free scan. In fairness I haven't done this but I guess it is like other similar software in that if something is detected you gotta pay ....
Having read about it, if it does what it says on the box it is very good.

Mumoto, these entries are meant for software review comments. If you have not tried the software, don't comment! I notice you did the same for Spyware Terminator latest version. If you would care to try both these programs out and then leave constructive observations, I am sure you will be welcome. Furthermore, if you have not tried it, how do you know what it does and does not delete ? Thanks to your uneducated comments (guesses) we may miss out on what might be a very good program !

Mumoto

Mumoto reviewed vv4 - SE (5.8.2008) on Aug 5, 2008

I haven't tried this software, but just because it finds more than your current anti-virus, doesn't mean what it finds are actually virusses.

It can't be really trusted, you might be deleting important system files or your own personal data which it marks as a virus.

I gave it a 2 for effort....but still too many false positives.
On my system were three (supposedly dangerous) files identified (2 were part of Tune Up Utilities 2007 and one belongs to BoClean 4.25/Comodo Firewall)
After uploading these files to Virus Total where they were scanned with 31 AV engines everything came back clean. So I recommend you get a second opinion before becoming all panicky and trust the findings of this scanner too much.
