Publisher's Description

RipIt4Me is a freeware utility that helps you backup your copy protected DVDs. Recently released DVDs are now very often equipped with stronger copy protections - such as ARccOS and RipGuard DVD. Other programs cannot handle these types of discs.

With the help of RipIt4Me, ripping these DVDs will be a very easy task. The program is fully automated and the wizard will guide you through all the necessary steps involved. If you prefer, there is also a true "1-Click" mode that will perform all the involved steps automatically for you.

I've always been a CloneCD + CloneDVD + AnyDVD (from SlySoft) fan, but after learning of the Zepter registry keys and (non-malacious) rootkits they install on systems, I got fed up with the software and sought the alternatives. Well, this is it.

DVD Decryptor + RipIt4Me + DVDShrink are THE best alternatives out there and guess what:

1) No driver installation
2) No rootkit crap
3) FREE!

Awesome!

ripit4me inlcludes : ripit4 me, dvd decrypter, dvdshrink, and fixvts . which are al great programs

last thing is dvdfab decrypter a lot of people tlk about it and it is a good program but somtimes it doesnt always get the decrypting done

AnyDVD is a waste of money and a buggy nightmare. A device driver is just not the right way to go. It interferes with too many other things. At least RipIt4Me runs and gets out of the way without messing up anything else at the system level.

And if you need extra simple, try DVDFab Decrypter, which is also free and still better than anything Slysoft makes.

Anyway, Taledega Nights was no challenge for this update of RipIt4Me, nor are any of the other recent purchases.

Between the RipIt4Me / DVD Decrypter / FixVTS and DVDFab Decrypter, users have excellent free solutions and need not waste a dime on anything else.

Keep up the good work, folks, and thank you for your efforts.

I never had a problem with AnyDvd until a couple of weeks ago. I still & will continue to use AnyDvd, but RipIt4Me is a much better program hands down. I have to rate this program with 5 very high stars.I just used it today for the very 1st time & I was able to emulate a dvd that AnyDvd could not do all alone. I used RipIt4Me along with AnyDvd, even though RipIt4Me advises against it, I was able to back-up my DVD with ease(took 1hr 22min). I had used several different method to rip the particular DVD, but all failed except this one combined with AnyDvd. Thanks guys for the fast update to RipIt4Me! Keep up the great work! You Guys ROCK!

This Addition ROCKS! :

Incorporated the on-the-fly patching code to make DVD Decrypter more robust to badly messed IFOs. Thanks to the anonymous developer who provided that code, without this, RipIt4Me would *not* be able to handle some of the latest DVDs. There is a new key in

Incredibly good additions to this already fantastic application. Works fine on Taledega Nights, DaVinci Code, Memoirs of Geisha and other ones I have handy, plus seems to handle the latest stuff from most other producers, at least from what I read on forums and such.

Don't pay for any other program when you can use RipIt4Me and DVDFab Decrypter for free.

Dunno how well this would work without Microsoft Windows Update and DRM etc. interfering, it did with my computer.

All I got was a memory acess error and the DVDRW / CD RW drive was no longer recognized as working, although there in Hardware Devices.

From, there I should've System Restore back up the computer before installing and or using Rip It For Me (and DVD Decrypter) for I formatted from the HD install CD due to the crash in order for the "D" drive to be recognized.

Believe me I tried everythig else.

DVD Decrypter used to work fine but again, between the "smart" management of Microsoft and the DVD makers, the system, at least mine can't handle either program at all. I never got to experience RipIt4Me in all it's glory...

So for those who have a PC that is pre Windows Update and offline, basically first and or fresh install of your OS, you should be fine, don't quote me on that.

Point Zero:

Never crashed on me and even works under Wine/Linux. I would think if it crashes that often, it wouldn't run under this Wine/Linux combination at all. Check your installation. I'm not saying you don't know what you do, but it seems your system has a problem with the program.

JEdwardP

JEdwardP reviewed v1.6.2.0 on Dec 11, 2006

According the author's site, 1.6.3 has already been released.

Think of this tool not only as an up-to-date front-end for DVD Decrypter, but also as a convenient launcher for both FixVTS and DVDShrink.

Most of my DVD's are old, and can therefore be handled by DVD Decrypter alone, but for those few that cannot, this tool is nearly perfect.

BruddaMan

BruddaMan reviewed v1.6.0.0 on Dec 4, 2006

Mandeep - RipIt4Me is necessary because DVD Decrypter is no longer updated, and so is not able to handle newer forms of copy protection by itself.

What RipIt4Me does is act as a front-end to DVD Decrypter. RipIt4Me handles those new protections that are not native to DVD Decrypter.

In a sense, it is just an enhancement to DVD Decrypter that helps keep it relevant. The only thing standing in the way of DVD Decrypter was the new forms of copy protections. RipIt4Me removes that barrier and allows users to take full advantage of DVD Decrypter, even with the latest titles.

I give it a 4. It works well.

The best program, along with DVDD, for backups of your protected DVDs. Never had a problem or a DVD that's unrippable. And it's simple: the automated Wizard takes vitually no brains, there's even a truely automatic 1-Click mode. No reason not to like RipIt4Me. Now HD-DVD / Blu-Ray ... that could be a while.

This program is a good concept but I'm wondering why it's needed. DVD Decrypter has basically the same UI so it's not really needed IMO. The problem with this is it rips to VOB then uses DVD Shrink to create an ISO. But with DVD Decrypter you can rip straight to ISO. Can some1 explain to me why this tool is needed?

I normally don't give apps a 5, but again, this one deserves it. Double-tested 1.6.0.0 and it rips my movies flawlessly and I can open them in DVD Shrink and reauthor or full backup with no problem.

More reliable than AnyDVD and FREE all at the same time. Amazing. What a great way to revive DVD Decrypter as a ripping engine. Well done.

coover

coover reviewed v1.5.7.0 on Nov 20, 2006

Gee, I can only give this a 5 when it deserves at least a 10.

The software author is really deserving of praise for the way this one is now working. The "One Click Mode" is really the "One Click Mode". One click, and a little time later, the DVD will be copied. This is the perfect solution for the non-technical user, and the worst nightmare for the folks that want you to purchase their DVDs again after they wear our rather than allowing you to make a "fair use" copy.

This thing gets better and better.

I just bought the Da Vinci Code DVD and was able to back it up with 1.5.6.0 no problem. It just flat out gets the job done, and again, the installer makes this thing about as easy as it gets.

You have DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink already installed (every DVD backup fan should have those installed, after all, right?), the run the 1.5.6.0 installer and it puts RipIt4Me and FixVTS on the system, integrates the access to DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink and puts a single RipIt4Me icon on the desktop.

All you have to do is start the app via that icon and either do the 1 click or the Wizard install, and you are good to go.

Great job, guys! Please keep up the excellent work.

They have added an installer which handles the FixVTS and RipIt4Me installation for you. Have DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink already installed on your system and now all you have to do is run the new RipIt4Me installer and it takes care of everything. Just start the app from the icon it creates and you are good to go.

http://www.ripit4me.org/download.html

Well done.

I do also like DVDFab Decrypter and think both apps are easier and less buggy than DVD43 and AnyDVD, so I have stopped using both of those in favor of RipIt4Me and DVDFab Decrypter. They don't stay in memory and don't interfere with anything.

DudeBoyz

Bally:

This is primarily a front-end for DVD Decrypter that handles newer copy protection schemes.

It's a very small executable that you can put right in your DVD Decrypter folder (along with FixVTS) and when you run it, it calls up DVD Decrypter for you and still uses it for the actual ripping operation. Then it can call up FixVTS to clean up the DVD Structure and wala, you have a legit backup. :)

This version works just as well as previous versions and is just the kind of free software that gives free software a good name. w00t!

I just found out about this recently, and I have had VERY good luck with it. But I don't have any resident stuff like ANYDVD or DVD43 loaded.

I just copy the EXE into my DVD Decrypter folder, along with the FixVTS exe (both really small files) and then I run the RipIt4Me EXE and usually do the wizard.

It lets me keep using DVD Decrypter, one of my fave apps, and then when the stuff is ripped to the hard drive, I can process it with DVD Shrink no sweat.

Great stuff, though I do wish they had a single bundle install that would install all 3 components for you and set up all the short cuts.

So, 4 instead of 5, but it is a really cool app and I totally support the effort.

coover reviewed v1.4.15.0 on Sep 28, 2006

I originally rated this app a 1 because it caused my machine to crash .. see below (starting with "Sorry", but I am now updating my rating to a 4.

RipIt4Me has a forum, so after submitting a log of the crash to the forum, it was suggested that if I closed run32.dll, the app would work. It did, and very well. I now rate it a 4 as I should not have had the problem in the first place.

Here are my previous comments on this app ...

Sorry for the bad rating. This may be a good product, but the first time I tried to run it, my machine crashed and rebooted. The 2nd and the 3rd tries were not so bad. Only the application crashed.

I have sent a log to the software's author. Hopefully, he'll find the problem and fix it. This freeware is badly needed.
