Safari offers you a superior Web experience with outstanding performance. Even the most complex of pages load at breakneck speed. In fact, it loads pages more quickly than any other Mac Web browser. But that's not all. Safari uses the advanced interface technologies underlying Mac OS X to offer you an all-new view of the Web, one that's much easier to use.

The Mac version of Safari is better than the Windows version but it's still a bad browser.

How strange so many things changed in Safari 4's GUI between the last beta and this final version...! Strange indeed that "they" abandoned the tab bar in the upper portion of the interface, and that "they" also reversed course as to the progress bar, not back to the blue tide (yet?), but not exactly as bland and non-informative as the simple spinning grey wheel either.

Aside from that, Safari 4 on my MBP running Tiger with all the bells and whistles is very fast at rendering web pages, quick to start up too, and rendering is so far flawless. I still deplore the fact that its interface can't be more easily customized, but in terms of speed and stability, it's a good application. Don't know yet if I'm ready to ditch Opera as default browser, though...

Sorry to rain on your parade, guys, but I just installed it, only to uninstall it immediately, because it just wouldn't start (Safari had to quit, would you like to send a report to Apple? By all means, Steve...).

Got back to Saf4 Dev Preview, which works just fine, thanks...

Opera's CSS and standards support in general is very impressive in my opinion.

Safari is a very good browser for CSS support, second only to Mozilla-based browsers. IE actually has pretty poor CSS support. Mozilla/Opera/Safari are much better.

Sorry, not a review but a question... How does it handle CSS's (cascading style sheets)? One of the biggest problems for all the non Microsoft browsers is they don't deal with CSS's very well.

I was using Safari since the earliest beta. Well done Apple, very impressive! Respect to Mozilla, but they are lucky that Safari runs only on Mac.

mac is increasingly making good softwares.
(I don't like their quicktime though, but there's definitely no need to port to windows though. IE/Mozilla/and whatever other browsers out there is quite enough for windows users.

I do use macs, and Safari blows, not as bad as IE on the mac but it blows. However now that Firebird is being ported over to Mac the situation will soon rectify itself

People. Safari doesn't need to be ported to Windows!! Thats why Opera exists, stop using IE and use Opera its the fastes most user friendly browser out there!

    fxer80, don't be a d***.
Just because you don't use Mac, doesn't mean you have to act like a retard. I have used Safari, and have to say that I thought it was a pretty solid program.

Spam Inspector don't work on user accounts with access rights of "regular user" (OS Windows 2000 Pro). No problem with admin privileges but using accounts for internet access with such high privileges isn't acceptable for me.

apple will never port this to windows, however i'm sure someone will do it on their own eventually.

phoenix for the PC is pretty much the same as safari on the Mac IMO.....

although, i'm partial to safari :)

First off, keep it up MAC? How about keep it up Apple? That would make a little mroe sense. Secondly, each time that I try safari, it continues to disappoint me. The GUI is disgusting and takes up too much space, and I don't see ANY speed differences between it and IE. To me, it seems as though this is just another one of Apple's moves to try and create their own product that just ends up being made to try and copy others already out there. There just isn't a need for this browser. Nice try Apple, but you missed the target.

Great software, extremely fast. It blows away IE 5.2.2! I've had no issues with any sites I've visited with the most recent beta.

Fast and pretty reliable even though it's a beta. This browser is Mac OS X only. But it is based on the KDE Browser. So if you want to use somthing similar try loading Linux with the Kbrowser.

Finally, a Mac OS X web browser fast as you want.

There are some features I would like to see, like everyone asks, Tabbed Browsing, and the ability to view the Link Location, because you never know where are you going when you click a link.
Other than that, It'just awesome, fast as any Windows browser out there.
