Publisher's Description

SiSoftware Sandra is an information & diagnostic utility. It should provide most of the information (including undocumented) you need to know about your hardware, software, and other devices whether hardware or software. It provides similar level of information to Norton SI, Quarterdeck WinProbe/Manifest, etc. The Win32 version is 32-bit and comes in both ANSI and native Unicode formats. The Win64 version is 64-bit and comes in native Unicode format.

Useless application. Provides incorrect (partially) information about your PC.

Needlessly complex for benchmarking. Annoying interface for same. All that installation crap should not be necessary either. Plus, it's extremely slow when you do execute the benchmarking sequence.

This feels like a very disjointed effort. It's an uneven patchwork.

Not a fan.

I only remember Sandra from a few years back. As I recall, it was quite a powerful set of utilities and my boss (yes, he had a paid license) used it to burn in every PC he built (installed then uninstalled of course). Yes, $35 plus is a lot of money for burnin software, but if it's as good as it was back then, it worth it if you make a living at evaluating and building PCs. No longer in the PC repair business (do some contract work now but it's more grunt PC related then repair) so things may have changed since 2010, but I'm pretty sure Sandra is still a good set of utilities but may be, as others have already mentioned, a little heavy for most folks use, but if you want a thorough test, it'll meet your requirements for sure. :)

A bit big for what it does & not cheap, try HW Info instead.

Been using HwInfo in place of this, Sandra is still a decent software, but has become somewhat overweight recently.

At 56 meg it's 95% crap. You can do far better than this has been. A few years ago it was OK, today no chance.

And I'm getting fed up of the 'Shareware' tag, 99% of these are crippled commercial demos, true shareware is as rare as rocking-horse s*** today.

It seems it has a bit low reputation, but i like this tool. It gives much more information about your system than Lavalys / Aida64.

I am not too sure of the point of having this any longer. If you are savvy enough to download and install it in the first place then you quickly realise that it is quite bloated and of little value considering others which do more relevant things for free.
At one time SiS was a useful piece of software but now it seems to have lots of bells and whistles with little substance.

people who know what hardware is in their pc:
they don't need it. better buy a new game for the $
people who don't know what hardware is in their pc:
they don't need it, either. better buy a screwdriver

if you need a diagnostic tool when let's say buying
a 2nd hand pc, there are better tools that even fit
onto a floppy or use one of those bootable tool cd's
that are around the net.

It was once a good program, but now there are better free alternatives.

jafo--They used to have a one-time registration that would cover all future upgrades--when I bought mine. Then a month after they stopped. I believe this was in either 2002 or 2003 this happened...

I stopped using them shortly afterwards. I keep trying their newer versions, but I just don't have much use for them anymore and I'd prefer using other system info utilities, while PC Mark and 3D Mark are my prefered benchmark utilities now.

jafo818 reviewed vXII.2008 (12.30) on Aug 17, 2007

I used to pay for upgrades to this (for a few years)... If they had a one time registration fee they'd get more people to buy... I gave up on it because there are other alternatives (I use Everest) and my older version still works for the most part...

I give it a 5 great aplication, for them pc's you get that where put togather ,from some small pc company and you need to know whats inside. to get the drivers ect, used with driver magic pro and they make a good team. Would love to see Sandra have that ablity to located drivers for the devices, installed.

horsecharles reviewed v2007 (10.98) on May 8, 2006

I'll ignore $$$ and give this a 5...However, i use freeware PCWizard2006, constantly/recently updated. That being said, I have not done a detailed compare of both(nor Everest, etc.)--ergo not suggesting it's equally-featured or better, just that it works for what I use it for, and seems to use much less resources.

I've used SS since it was released. Pretty nifty program, very informative. I'm not QUITE sure I trust some of the cpu and memory benches, at least the comparison notes - but many o' hardware testers out there use it, so my doubts may be unfounded. I disovered a little program called Aida32 a while back that I've grown fond of....but Sandra is happy as number 2 I think. I def. would recommend it to anyone out there at least looking for great in depth info about their PC.

Please don't rate a program if you can't even dl it. The fact that the link may be broken doesn' reflect on the quality of the app.

This is a pretty darn good program. Lots of info and benchies for the user who likes to get down and dirty with their hardware. I'd rate it higher, if Aida32 wasn't free.

I have always found Sandra to be a great information application. Having said that allot of the tips don't help very much and I take most "benchmarcking" apps with a grain of salt. The price is right...FREE!

I have stop using this silly software , the score's is changing from the one version to the other , its well known that the latest Celeron 1.4 FCPGA2 it was killing the P4 2.2 Ghz .. In the latest version everything looks upside down .. In the US there was lots of law shoots about that fact ,that the latest P4's was not offering real gain over the latest FCPGA CPUs ..
The Sandra had become as another marketing tool like the Madonion 3D Mark .. I do not have faith to it any more , not to think of even spending any cash for it ..
This software have end up as one joke ..

bobad reviewed v2003.1.9.26 on Nov 6, 2002

Still good, still free, better performance graphing than 2000.x version. I still downgraded it because it doesn't have a 3D graphics benchmark, and because it has no composite score like Performance Test (passmarks). (bobad@charter.net)

bobad

bobad reviewed v2001.3.7.52 on Mar 28, 2001

Great program, especially for Freeware (for personal use). I downgraded this program because it has no video benchmarki and no overall benchmark. In this category, "Performance Test" (Passmark) is still the best, IMHO. (bobad@mindspring.com)
