Publisher's Description
SoftPerfect Network Scanner is a free multi-threaded IP and NetBIOS scanner. Both system administrators and users who are interested in computer security can use this. The scanner pings computers, scans for listening TCP ports and shows what types of resources are shared on a network (including system and hidden). It allows you to mount shared resources that are found by the program as network drives, simply browse them using Windows Explorer, etc.

Yeah all their freeware now costs money, with little to no increase in features or functionality. I'll stick with old versions of their network scanner and their Ramdisk.

I use Advanced IP Scanner. Reliable and free network scanner to analyse LAN. The program scans all network devices, gives you access to shared folders and FTP servers, provides remote control of computers (via RDP and Radmin), and can even remotely switch computers off. It is easy to use and runs as a portable edition. It should be the first choice for every network admin. http: //www.advanced-ip-scanner.com/

Pure awesome. I really can't believe how much functionality is packed into this beautiful thing. Been using for years and I'm still impressed.
Great for scanning your network and getting notified when someone gains access. Portable too.

Had it freeze on me a couple times when stopping/starting scans before letting one complete, but overall a very robust, but not bloated scan utility.

Good program only complaint is when you save the list it doesnt show the IPs that don't respond.
