Publisher's Description
SplitCam is a virtual video clone and split video capture driver for connecting several applications to a single video capture source. Usually, if you have a web camera or video camera connected to your computer, you cannot use it in more than one application at the same time, and there is no standard Windows options that makes it possible. The driver allows you to easily multiply your web-camera (any models), video cameras ( any model: analog or ditial : VHS, DV, TV-IN or TV-tunner ) in video chat or video conference software like ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, Skype Video, Camfrog, AOL AIM, Pal Talk, or whatever... and to broadcast it to many users at a time. You can connect up to 64 clients to a single video source.

SplitCam is a great tool to have if you initiate your own ametuer photo shoots, such as I do. It offers the ability to take endless, continuous shots at intervals you pre-set, which beeps in sync with each shutter closure. I love the added opportunity to view each shot during the time of shooting, via your large computer monitor, so you can make any pose or lighting adjustments as you shoot, vs discovering a segment of bad shots after the fact, forcing you to retake an entire series otherwise. I also use it for video-visitation of an incarcerated family member, as my web-cam alone cannot conquer this feat for some reason, and SplitCam manages all possibility of the web-cam's session. I am in the process however, of learning to use my digital camera through my computer USB portal, replacing the outdated internal web-cam, which SplitCam will control. My only criticism is that when an update prompts, it leaves you no choice but agree to install it right then, or the program closes all together. And the problem with installing it during whatever task I need it for at the time, is that the install is gruesomely long, if it ever gets to finish at all, before freezing inevitably, and since it uninstalls the outdated program BEFORE installing the updated one, you'll get kicked out of your SplitCam session until you can hunt down a compatible install off the Internet at that point, which can oftentimes become a lengthy, frustrating chore... the reason I am right here, right now. So out of fairness, I had to remove one review-star. But I had to stop and review this marvel of a free must-have, which additionally offers an array of beneficial features I've never even used.
