Standard MPEG Encoder is a software Mpeg Encoder targeted at companies looking to add Mpeg Encoding functionality to their applications. The Standard Mpeg Encoder is available both as a DirectShow Filter as well as a standard Windows Dynamic Link Library.

    I don't get it. Any DirectShow encoder could be used by software developer (you just have to mess with DirectShow API). Also, you can use commandline versions of encoders (such as famous x264.exe) for more straight encoding. Not sure about dll's but there should be some. So, why would one purchase this piece of software? I just don't get it.

    You can buy a lot of software for $650, you could also buy a lot of burgers for $650, whats your point?

    You won't get another commercial developers mpeg encoder (Encoder not transcoder) for $650. As opposed to software like TMpegEnc, here you are buying a DEVELOPMENT tool, not just a normal consumer tool.

    Development tools make money, consumer software cost money. As an analogy they are selling you a fishing rod, not just a fish. Thats the reason for the price.

    If you suck at development and dont think that your sales could cover $650 then by all means avoid this. I tried this and liked it, very easy to use in C# and Delphi.Net.
