Synchronize It! is a powerful directories synchronization tool. It features customizable configurations, projects, filters, colors, and tools. It even has archives synchronization support.
Reviewing 3.0 Preview (Oct 15, 2004)
Ok, but limited features and a little immature just yet. Alternatives you should look at are SyncBack and Unison.
SyncBack is Windows-only, has lots of features. Its free.
Unison is cross-platform, looks a lot less polished but is actually very stable and has the huge advantage of doing delta syncs. That means if you change a single slide in a 6mb powerpoint presentation, only the changes will be synchronized. Unison also is secure since it works over SSH. Unison is open source, but development isnt very agressive right now.
Its a shame most Windows-only freeware / shareware filesync tools do not support delta synchronization.
