TeXnicCenter is a feature rich integrated development environment (IDE) for developing LaTeX-documents freely available under GPL. The aim is to support the LaTeX-newbie by providing him the most important LaTeX constructs via menu and by abstracting the use of the LaTeX compiler and other tools like MakeIndex and BibTeX and even support the LaTeX-pro by providing a powerful, fully customizable integrated environment.
Yes
- The large package.xml file, which had been included accidently into the setup of the previous version and slowed down the TeXnicCenter startup has been removed
- The 'File > Close' command works correctly again now
- Auto-complete function in the TeX-editor - type [Ctrl]+[Space] to insert the suggestion at the current cursor position
- BiBTeX files are parsed now
- Line numbers can be shown in the left column of the text editor

I used this for my thesis, I like it very much. 5 stars
I also found this other one (freeware):

Been using this for about a year now and its never failed on me. The best free latex editor i've found for windows.

Well well, what we (finally) got here :) It looks like this piece of good old FOSS software is coming of age.
At home I only use linux, and I write all my documents in latex, using kile (which are quite a number). I like kile so much that at work (where I have to use Windows) I first used kile/cygwin+kde for a long time than kile/vmware+debian up to this day.
But this stuff is something which looks quite nice, almost as nice as kile. I'll give it a good try, I'm just in the middle of writing something, I'll take a look.

The BEST (and it's also FREE) LaTeX IDE tool (IMHO) available on Windows platform. It is NOT a 'WYSIWYG' interface for LaTeX, like 'MacKichan Scientific WorkPlace'. It's a pure LaTeX editor which offers authors with a list of powerful features at their disposal.
I used to use WinEdt (a good shareware version of LaTeX editor) but have since switched to TeXnicCenter because of its simple GUI and poweful features available... :)

A great program and a perfect free alternative to programs like WinEdt. I use it for writing scientific documents.
