Trillian is a multi-network chat client that currently supports IRC, AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo! Messenger. It supports all of the features you've come to expect from a good IM client, including but not limited to docking, multi-line edit boxes, buddy alerts, multiple connections to the same medium, a powerful skinning language, easy importing of your existing contacts, skinnable emoticons, logging, "global" away/invisible features, and a unified contact list. It is completely free with no nag screens or built-in ads.

I was interested in trying this since people were saying it's better than Digsby, but even after changing the skin to the classic style, it just doesn't seem as usable. When you have Facebook, MySpace, Messenger and a few email accounts set up, Digsby, for all the issues people have with it, is just a lot more manageable and nicer to maneuver. Plus, I couldn't connect to the MySpace chat because I don't have a MySpace URL set up, which isn't a problem with Digsby (I could connect to Facebook Chat just fine). Checking mail is far superior in Digsby. I think it comes down to preference, and I use the 'lite' Digsby installer ( http://update.digsby.com/install/digsby_setup.exe ) so I haven't experienced all the bloat people complain about.

Thus far I like it.
Only problem I have is that while it *does* connect to facebook, it doesn't seem to want to connect to facebook-chat. Anyone else have this problem or know of a fix?

One of the best multi-network IM around .. no doubt.
It's subjective but for me it's the best

Quite simply my messenger of choice since 2001. Quite simply, it is beautiful. The options for skinning and plugins alone make Digsby look like ICQ version 1. The folks who develop the software are reachable and work hard at making sure that the software works well. Plus, as a member, you get the wbe version which is invaluable to me.
This is a software worth downloading, and if you like the free version it is more than worth the money to with everything it has to offer.

The default Astra skin sucks a** and always will, BUT switching skins to back to the classic Cobalt brings everything back to normal.
Overall I think Trillian is the best all-around messenger on the market.
