Trillian is a multi-network chat client that currently supports IRC, AIM, ICQ, MSN, and Yahoo! Messenger. It supports all of the features you've come to expect from a good IM client, including but not limited to docking, multi-line edit boxes, buddy alerts, multiple connections to the same medium, a powerful skinning language, easy importing of your existing contacts, skinnable emoticons, logging, "global" away/invisible features, and a unified contact list. It is completely free with no nag screens or built-in ads.

Reviewing 5.1.0.15b (Nov 16, 2011)
Most of my contacts are on MSN Messenger, but a few are on Yahoo or ICQ. I give Trillian 5 stars for the convenience of replacing these individual IM apps with a single (smaller footprint) app, but deduct a star since it is not perfect. There are odd problems that crop up from time to time. Not sure if these are regressions due to the frequent releases or new issues due to the fact that these IM services are a moving target. Whatever the cause, the few severe issues that I have experienced over the years have been fixed quickly.
Reviewing 5.1.0.12 Beta (Oct 18, 2011)
I've used MSN / Live for years every day without ad's or issues, what people use this piece of junk for I have no idea.
Reviewing 5.1.0.7 Beta (Aug 30, 2011)
the new skype plugin is been considered as malware, but that will change in 1 or 2 days for avira.
I submited it and they agred it was a false positive.
BTW, betas are free, official version is not and has quite some limitations.
Reviewing 5.0.0.35 (Aug 20, 2011)
Used to love it. Now that it's adware I'll stop using it.
