Tweak-XP is a big joke. The only substantial element it provides is the installation/setting of a RAMdisk, all other tweaks being the classical ones anyone can find in most free tweaking programs. There aren't 56,000 tweaks, and most of us know the main ones - with different settings from one platform to another - which really make a difference. Of course, Tweak-XP's GUI is very nice, looks like fed with hundreds of deep innovative secrets... have a close look and you'll find nothing which is already widely known.
As a freeware, though, Tweak-XP wouldn't be too bad, but 40 bucks minus a nickel, the only outstanding feature of this average software, is not reasonable.

in the end it actually slowed down my pc rather then making it run faster.
Reviewing 4.0.5 (Mar 14, 2005)
I have used Tweak XP Pro and I think its a very good program. Its straight forward, and has dozens of tweaks you can tune your system with. It will also block ads and popups if you wish. I know there are dozens of Tweakers out there but this one does the job well. As far as X-Setup Pro is concerned, its not free, and its no where near the quality of Tweak XP Pro. I tried it and it reminds me of an old outdated Windows 95 tuner upper with its archaic old style interface. I suppose for $8 you can perform a few little performance tweaks but it doesnt come close to Tweak XP Pro in my opinion. And of course everyone has an opinion, and we dont all see eye to eye on all of this computer stuff. I've only been building computers since 1985 so I do know a little about how they should run. Give this program a try, you get 30 uses for free so why not tune your system up? If you like the performance, then buy it you cant go wrong.

I'll agreee with horst - it's a nice program that you could essentially run once and keep on your system indefinitely. The demo gives you 30 uses and I really can't see anyone needing to tweak their system more than 30 times.
There are lots of other programs that essentially do the same thing, but I've never seen one as comprehensive or a nicely put together as this one. The TweakNow Powerpack is nice, but I found this program to be better and easier to use.
There's nothing here you can't do yourself (www.tweakxp.com) for free or with freeware programs, but with the demo you get 30 uses and an easy way to do everything at once.
Reviewing 4.0.0 (Oct 2, 2004)
Even though the interface seems slow sometimes, the tweaks make sure the system itself works fast most of the time. I've noticed definite improvements after tweaking with Tweak-XP pro.
From a completely different point of view I often wonder if it is usefull to continue using this (kind of) program i.e. buying it. Once tweaked, the avereage user seems to have little use for this package. BUT: I do advise many "endusers" to install it, use it and read the appropriate helpfile in order to become "powerusers". The programme does a really good job educating and rewarding (via the effective tweaks and utilities).
For that purpose alone Tweak-XP Pro is worth the price.
