With no support for Firefox, it will not survive.

    Hi,

Thought I'd help you out and provide some feedback for http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/1226303148/1 .

I see you don't even mention it on your website? You should and you should offer both the installer and just the exe (in a zip file).

You should also give a few details about the download (Examples: File Size, MD5, SHA-1, and CRC-32 hashes) and a screen-shot.

Seems you are only supporting Internet Explorer and thus perhaps this application should be renamed to "Verifying Favorites" ?

Or do you intend on adding support for other popular browsers such as Firefox, Opera, and Safari? I highly recommend you do so, if you hope to get anywhere.

Would be nice if the sort menus where true sort menus. I should be able to sort by Name, Link, and Status.

And I should be able to hide any sort menu I wish by simply right clicking anywhere on one and choosing to disable any sort item.

I would add one more sort option of "date created". Seems you can't reliably tell when a favorite was last accessed, or that would be nice too.

Since it seems the favorite's time stamp is not updated if you visit the favorite within Internet Explorer. Perhaps you know a way?

The "status" sort menu needs some work. Since you have to open folders to view it.

That's fine when its done, but when it's scanning there is no way to know how long it will take, how long its been, etc..

I see there is no way to check one or more favorites manually. Nor is there a way to delete one or more favorites at a time.

Would be nice if you could remove favorites using the application via the right click context menu or hitting delete button on the keyboard.

The user should also be able to use "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys in order to pick more than 1 favorite at a time.

Why are there two "options" buttons? Only need one as far as I can see. The second one should be something like "About...".

For the listing of the favorites special characters should come before letters, at least that is the order Internet Explorer uses; you should match its ordering style.

Unfortunately, I have ran into a few false negatives (this application says the favorite is bad when the favorite is in fact not bad).

List of websites that I have bookmarked that this application believes to be dead when in fact they are not dead:

    1. http://www.fark.com/
    2. http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/
    3. http://blogs.technet.com/msrc/
    4. http://www.filedropper.com/
    5. any cPanel website (see cpanel.net)
    6. Google search bookmarks (example: http://www.google.com/se...312.com&btnG=Search)
    7. http://www.google.com/linux
    8. http://news.google.com/
    9. http://msdn.microsoft.co...zine/cc163582.aspx#void (seems it thinks all MSDN sites are bad because it can't get pass the live.com log-in)

Also, this application believes that all JavaScript favorites are bad (NOTE: If you double click on one you get this error: "Internet Explorer cannot download. Unspecified error").

That's a decent number of false negatives considering I have 754 favorites in total. Not bad, good job! :)

I don't have the time to check to see if there are any false positives (as in a favorite that is bad and your application believes to still be good).

Anyhow, I give this application three stars since it does work somewhat. Though perhaps this should be labeled an alpha as it seems you have a bit of work to do?

Good luck and I wish you well! Thanks for the application! I look forward to any improvements. Happy to test any new builds. ;)

    Take Care,

    Will
