    Awkward program with an awkward interface and a home page with a poor reputation.

    Does have a lot of options for encoding, though.

    The DownloadHelper extension for Firefox does this free, and I like the way it detects and handles streaming video MUCH better. Don't pay for this.

    There are free video downloaders, and free video converters, but having it all in one is very nice. (Ironically, I received this program for free from Giveawayoftheday.com) :P
