Windows 2000/2003/Vista/XP / Shareware; $30.00 / 2,215 downloads

WFTPD is known for its correct support of the FTP standards, and its ability to communicate successfully with a wide range of FTP clients and servers. Security means more than keeping unwanted people out of your server; it also means providing reliable access to those people you do want in. It is written with both security and stability firmly in mind; no new feature is added without considering how it will affect the security of the whole program. While providing the speed and power you would expect from an FTP server, it is also designed to be clear and simple to use; configuration does not require paging through screeds of information with checkboxes for everything including the kitchen sink.

Neither would I use WFTPD. But I wouldn't use IIS 5.0's built in FTP either. You might want to check out Serv-u or G6.

Theye, I realize that updates to Warftpd are few and far inbetween; however, I certainly would not use WFTPD as an alternative. Besides, I run Windows 2000 Server, which has a built-in FTP server as part of IIS 5.0. When I start running Linux, I'll have more choices still. :-)

No screenshot, score 1.0. Listing as freeware when it really is not, score 1.0. Sorry, but I'll wait for WARFTP Daemon v3.0. It's free and open source.

ack! I wish I read the reviews. This program is REALLY BAD. DO NOT DOWNLOAD. First off it does not work. 2nd is crashed and burned when I tried to quit it. And lastly, I think the author just made it for the banner ads.
