WebDrive integrates a WebDAV or FTP server into the Windows desktop by mapping it to a network drive letter. It instantly web-enables any Windows application by providing the ability these applications to directly open files on web servers. It can connect to WebDAV, FTP, and HTTP Servers supporting Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions. It supports WebDAV, the new Web-Based Distributed Authoring and Versioning protocol built on HTTP standards. By mapping a drive letter to any WebDAV compliant Web Server, it will allow you to lock files, modify them, then release the locks so that others can review and update the files. By using WebDAV Locking concepts, its clients ensure data integrity.

WebDrive has built-in support for the industry standard SSL protocol. When used in conjunction with secure web servers, It will open an encrypted tunnel between the client computer and the remote server; giving you secure transmission of critical data over the Internet.

    Reviewing 7.22 (May 17, 2008)

The price has gone up and version 8 is now available but this seems a very useful program. I now have the ability to transfer files using FTP or DAV from any file manager type program that exists on my PC. I can open files from an FTP site in any application I care to by just assigning the FTP site a drive letter. No more setting up FTP sites in a multitude of programs, just set-up in WebDrive and use the drive letter to reference your files. It has taken a while to set-up the way I need it but I am sure I will make a purchase before my trial runs out.
