Win7codecs is an audio and video codec package for Windows 7. The installer will automatically remove most other popular codec releases from your computer before installing this concise yet comprehensive package. You won't need to make any adjustments or tweaks to enjoy your media content immediately. Windows Media Player and Media Center will instantly recognize all your files as playable.
It does not contain a media player and it does not associate file-types. With this package installed you will be able to use any media player, limited only by the players' capabilities, to play all movies and video clips. Streaming video is supported in several formats in all popular web browsers. Users of the Win7codecs have the ability to choose what is installed and where to install it using the public redistributable. After installation you can select to remove specific portions without removing the entire package. You can also re-add the removed items at any time.

@wolver1ne: if you think Codec Packs are useless, why you are here now? I bet you did download this and now you are using this! ;)
if you are either a pro or newbie, you need Codec Packs to play your media files... even in Win7 (which contain H.264 and AAC and also MPEG-4 codecs) you need install some splitter etc to play files like FLV or MKV which Win7Codec Pack does it (and much more!) very well with a very customizable and easy to use interface.

wolver1ne, the only useless thing here is your opinion. Opinions are not reviews. Go shove your opinion where someone actually cares to hear it. Many people prefer to use Windows Media Player or Media Center and using an alternate player or installing ac3filter isnt going to allow them to be used.

Codec packs are useless. Besides, on Windows 7 you don't really need to install any if you use any of latest MPC-HC with EVR enabled. Additionally you could install AC3 codec if you need more control over the sound.

Really what can be better than this?
all needed or optional codecs together well programmed and easy to manage!

2 releases a week and no Upgrade or Update option? Why not include an internal update program? Great program but why include a version check and then I have to uninstall and reinstall at least 1-2 times a week to stay current? I don't care that the other codecs packs are the same way! This is Shark and I expect great things from him including innovation! Step Up and separate yourself from all the other codecs by including an auto update feature.
