Winamp Goes 3D is an OpenGL based visual plug-in for Winamp, the most popular media playback for Win32 platforms. It requires that your graphics card support OpenGL hardware acceleration. It includes dynamic lights, stroboscope, motion blur, 32-bit texturing, oscilloscope, dynamic texturing taken from the Winamp window, ability to add your own backgrounds, ability to add your own models, and the ability to map Winamp 3D arbitrarily on any surface.

This plugin ROX.
Just thismorning I was looking at AOL's creation and watching how it chewed through the avalable resources on my computer and I thought to myself "How can this chew resources more effectively? I have a huge ammount of spare computing power, and I would just love it if I could use it ALL to play my mp3s".
Then now, when I jump on BetaNews my prayers have been answered. To complement the bloatware of AOL somoeone has brought out an OpenGL visualisation front end.
YAY!
Thanks again betanews! I'm going to go get ICQ now :)

here we have one out of a small group of viable alternatives to irc and ftp file transfers. enormous potential, of course... and at this very early stage (when development is progressing quickly), my 1-5 rating isn't meaningful, or won't be for long.
it's rough around the edges, even for a beta. all the essentials are there, though.
i'm sure the author(s) would appreciate input regarding all facets of the program, so go take it for a spin.
