Some tools allow you to remove Windows Media Player from your system or even prevent it from ever being installed. The downside to this is that vital components for Windows Media playback are also removed. As a result you won't be able to play Windows Media files in your browser or in your favorite player. A solution for this problem is Windows Media Lite, which restores those vital components. This package can also be used to install the Windows Media codecs.

This pack also works beautifully on Windows 98SE and 2000. WMP10 only works on XP and newer.

jeez, WMP10 is only 2mb bigger. big deal. I never even use it. Is required for certain streams is true but sad. (aren't they being sued by the EU because of this?) I just hand the url's over to xmplay.
