Zapr creates links to files and folders on your own computer. Friends can click these links and download files from you through a browser. They don't need Zapr to get the files. Great for sharing in MySpace or in a blog. Because the files are web served, Zapr is highly secure. You can share 100's of files or 100's of gigs of files with Zapr. Also useful for remote access.
Reviewing 0.0.0.173 Beta (Jun 9, 2008)
Zapr was a great idea when I first encountered it, and it worked reasonably well. Then there was some sort of update and everything went wrong. All you got was an unintelligible message when trying to install the update. The only thing that worked was the automated confirmation letter when you opened a new account. So the thing seemed dead. About a year went by, and then, lo and behold, there was an email the other week with the message that Zapr had risen from the tomb. Now it's out of beta state and fully functioning, even providing smooth automatic update. So welcome back, guys!
Reviewing 0.0.0.173 Beta (Oct 20, 2006)
this is cool. it's a 5 star idea, but I'll be greedy at this stage ..
registering was a lil' tricky (gmail account finally worked). still feels "beta" and i don't exactly appreciate zapprapp.exe taking 40 MB RAM. i may use it anyway - on demand, but it's not a set&forgett tool. (also a matter of trust). appreciate how much this is easyer to setup compared to ftp and a redirecting host for my dynamic IP. (i once had a working setup with http://freedns.afraid.org/ or http://www.no-ip.com/
@mliubinskas: menus use systemcolor, it's grey in my case. (grey on white skin!)
