I use this on windows Vista Premium and I also used it on XP and I have never had a problem with it. It works well and does the job, so I have no idea why some of you have problems, perhaps you should learn how to isntall software or use a computer. This is excellent software and does well, I have used it for years.

I used to use ZoneAlarm back when it was efficient and a simple firewall. I abandoned it though because of the huge impact it has on system performance. Plus there are more effective firewalls out there for security purposes.

7.1.078.000 is a Vista version. When installing it on XP, it says that it's a Vista only version and doesn't let you install it.

The latest version for XP is 7.0.337.000 and is available here: http://download.zonelabs...Setup_70_337_000_en.exe

They're posting it here because it's for Vista 32 bit and not Windows 2000/2003/XP as BN says. Also if your thinking of using it I would go to Zone Labs first and read about it as there are a couple of things you should know about and do prior to installing.

Why are you posting ZoneAlarm with Antivirus 7.0.233.067 Beta, when zonelabs has the latest ZoneAlarm Antivirus release is 7.0.302.000? Check it out here http://download.zonelabs...aav/releaseHistory.html

Geeze, guys. Remember what "beta" means - for testing only. Relying on a beta firewall for everyday use is just nuts. If you wish to test and report bugs go ahead. If you want to reliably firewall your system this is NOT for you.

I've been using this version of ZA since I had some poor performance from Norton's software. I've had friends tell me they've had problems with the full suite, but this version of ZA has been all that I expect from a firewall with the addition of the antivirus software. In fact, the scans ZA does has brought spyware that other antivirus software didn't pick up and dealt with it accordingly. VERY highly recommended!

Install quickly and with no problems, unlike the big brother Zone Alarm Security Suite. Zone Alarm with Antivirus works fine with no slowdown, while surfing the web. It does not suffer the problems of Version 5 that all the other Zone Alarm versions are infected by. The anti virus from Computer Associates is excellent, and works quickly. It is rated highly among the Anti Virus web sites and is in the same class as Norton and McAfee on locating virus's. Excellent Software.

I've used ZA products for years and had very few problems, however this release is poor

This version crashed the machine on the install reboot and once I finally got it going left various ports open with no obvious way to close them.

The uninstal has left rubbish all over the registery forcing a major hand editing job.

Also the price doesnt match the stated price on the website.
verdict ~ get Sygate

As with EZ Firewall, this version works well. However, we need some kind of timer to turn the firewall back on, or a temp switch for when we need to turn the firewall off for downloads, etc. that way, we are covered within a short period of time.

As of this very minute, this deserves a "4". It's functioning very well on my wife's XP Home machine. I have Firefox and Thunderbird installed on it, and ZAAV is chugging merrily along without a snarf. The VET anti-virus engine is highly regarded, and I feel better that I don't have to deal with maintaining two seperate programs for her. Worth $19.95 IMHO.
