This program shows too many falsepositives.

I have complained to EMSI about f.ex that all startfiles for each addon of Sims 2 is flagged as highrisk malware. The only response i get is that they will look in to it. That was almost a year ago. Still this files are flagged as malware.

In the freeware there is no realtime protection. The a-squared service can therefore be set to MANUAL. Have complained to EMSI about this as well, no response at all.

This is NOT a program for beginners !

on my gaming-leeching-try-out-freeware machine which i also use for surfing here and there (sometimes WOT can't stop me opening a site) i recently decided to scan the whole thing.
congratulations said spybot, no threads found.
eeeeek! said asquared, 447 threads found, over 10 of them calssified as viruses,
the rest was malware, badware, adware madware.
i know that this program is not perfect either and sometimes shows up false alarms. anyway i rate this "5"
concerning spybot i am a bit confused now, as this one was one of my favourite tools in the past. hmmmm...

I'm giving this a five really for the paid version.

The software is extremely thorough and provides excellent real time protection with little annoyance except for a flag to say what it blocked.

To pohlman: A-squared is very good, yes you may get FP's at times. Although since i installed it(Which is now almost 5 months) and started using it i only did get 2 False possitives, while when i used Threatfire i got 5 FP's in a period of 2 months.(Which is weird actualy?)

Yes to you it isn't good, but to call it worst because it isn't fast and can give you a FP, doesn't do credit to how good it actualy is. I use it in combination with Spybot SD and i am extremely happy with the results. :)

The absolute worst I've encountered yet. It found about a dozen false positives before I mercy-killed it. This took about half an hour and it wasn't halfway through scanning as it dragged my system to a virtual halt. Positively worthless in every respect. Does it catch real problems? Who knows.

A-squared-Free is a superb on-demand scanner for trojans, worms, spyware, keyloggers, rootkits, etc. The program's database is huge. It is updated very often. The scanning engine is fast, stable, and effective.

This is an *aggressive* scanner, from the standpoint that it analyzes behavior as well as signatures. Thus it gives excellent protection against zero-day malware.

Although A-squared's aggressiveness gives added defense, compared with other types of scanners, it also carries a price in terms of False Positives (FP).

Thus, a potential user must assess whether A-squared is a good choice for him, based on his personal answers to the following 2 questions...

1- How *bad* would it be if your computer was compromised so that your personal data, private records, etc. could be stolen?

2- How "risky" are your normal habits in using your computer?

If your personal records are highly sensitive, &/or your computer habits are highly risky, then A-squared is a bloody good scanner to have on your computer.

BOTTOM LINE- For some folks (such as me), A-squared is a 5, & for others it isn't -- it all depends on your personal needs and situation.

One of the best Malware scanners available, for free or otherwise. I've used it very often, on different computers and never had a false positive!

Any scanner is going to detect tracking cookies, so don't complain about that..jeez!

Easy to use, doesn't hurt the eyes, and detects things other scanners don't.
