The philosophy behind jIRC is simple. jIRC is an attempt to preserve the feel of a console client while stepping in with some of the advantages of a graphical IRC client. This is why you IRC with one window unless you choose to open more. jIRC is fully scriptable and comes complete with features one might expect from a basic client and a solid script.
