I like the idea of making a better version of 7-Zip
    but
7-Zip is licensed GNU LGPL and JZip isn't. Also when I read about the FAQ of 7-Zip there read that if some software uses 7-Zip in their software it should tell what of the software it uses, that part should be lisenced as the same as 7-Zip is and that part should have a link to 7-Zip's source code where people can read what open source code is been used.
    Just a thought.

Of course it can create other archives. If you check the "Save as type" dropdown when you use "New Archive" you will find that it can create 7z, zip, gz, bz2 and tar archives.

Nice and streamlined GUI but unfortunately does NOT compress with the compression format of 7-Zip, but just old, obsolete ZIP format. Cannot create SFX files too. I will be generous - 4/5 because the price tag of jZip is OK.

Does not properly integrate with Vista x64 shell & context menus. Nor did it create a start menu icon on Vista x64.

Not too useful to me if it does not do these things. With the growing popularity of 64-bit Windows, if a program cannot do these things, it loses a lot of value.

    Needs more work.

Quote: "We created jZip for users who feel they want the same kind of compression capabilities offered by 7-zip but in an easier more streamlined user interface. We have spent significant time designing a sleek user interface that lets you to easily use the underlying compression engine."
Nice UI, but I'll stick to the original.
