uTorrent is an efficient and feature rich BitTorrent client for Windows sporting a very small footprint. It was designed to use as little cpu, memory and space as possible while offering all the functionality expected from advanced clients.

Please note: The 2.1 development branch is classified "Alpha". The 2.0 development branch is the "Beta" and the 1.8 branch is the "stable". Separate pages should be made for 2.0 and 1.8.x.
@sehnbadt:
uTorrent and BitTorrent are not spying on you. Their partnerships with the corporations you mentioned involve software that has nothing to do with the uTorrent or BitTorrent clients. Please refrain from posting this unfounded FUD in the future.

Good, but when it is operating, Firefox becomes almost totally unresponsive.
Reviewing 2.0 Build 17273 Beta (Nov 13, 2009)
The .torrent protocol is just a peer-peer file-sharing language (& as such is it just ONE way of communication) and is freely available. It is found in software, hardware, & has been made to work on every platform. It has numerous clients or gui's which accomplish various implementations, some of which are open source. EVERY player in the IT industry is using it and .torrent files account for the MAJOR portion of all traffic (or used to). I don't blame ludvig one bit for cashing out. But I'm sure if he had held out longer he could have made much more.
Besides it's not the pc I'm worried about, it's who I may, or may not be, directly connected to which ultimately carries the risk.
If I was you I'd be more worried about that itunes crap u have running in the background
