Did you buy Windows x64 but find that almost nothing will play in MediaCenter? Do you want to watch your favorite video's in MediaCenter? This package is tested on Windows Ultimate x64. It is a fully functional addon which may be included in an unattended environment using the switch -ai. The Shark007 codec releases are the only supported 32bit packages to use in conjunction with this installation. You will experience reduced functionality using any other package. Windows x64 is required for installation.

Reviewing 2.1.4 (Sep 26, 2009)
I'm repairing my review, giving it an average 3 now (5+1)/2=3
_must_ have when running media center (though I would still run it in 32 bit mode due to all sorts of problems 64bit codecs/appz are giving you, it's not fault of this bundle though), absolutely not needed when you don't want to use built-in Windows Media Player...
use MPC HC instead, which is simply the best windows media player, and doesn't need any codecs...(and no, VideoLAN "died" for me, KMPlayer doesn't even come close to latest MPC HC)
Reviewing 2.1.3 (Sep 18, 2009)
The best codec pack for x64, just sad because the only player available is the worst one. Anyway, you can use Win7/Vista codecs from Shark7 and a decent player (kmplayer, zoomplayer, etc) on x64, the choice is yours.
Forget about user reviews which do not know what they are writing about (cough, cough). This is the best codec pack available and Shark7 update it regulary, which make it even better...
Reviewing 2.0.3 (Jul 24, 2009)
cowgaR - way to be a douche.
It's for Media Center: l2read. VLC doesn't do what Media Center does, in fact very little does everything Media Center does, and I have yet to find something do it better. DTV? Photos? Music? All with a 10-foot, remote interface? No, didn't think so. Wake up to yourself.
As for x64 components - anything wrong with just using ffdshow? That's been working for me on x64 installs.
Reviewing 2.0.2 (Jul 15, 2009)
cowgaR, this release is specifically built for HTPC users who have a 64bit Operating Systems to enable Media Center to continue to be utilized. If you arent a Media Center user with a 64bit Operating System, you would have no use for this release.
Reviewing 1.2.4 (Jun 18, 2009)
unless you want to use built-in media player (worst player in the universe) and use its direct-x capabilities (which this codec improves) you don't need this bloatware...
as has been said, get mpc HC or VideoLAN (I prefer the former) which have all codecs inside of them and you can even select which one to use.
there was an age where divx was a new word for almost every other player out there, but now vast majority of players can handle everything, and if it can't, this thing will NOT help you.
it will just make your system feel more "fatty"
