This, again, boils down to the user. Engage brain before accepting files or running files when you don't know what they are. This is common sense. All operating systems are vulnerable to this.

Bear in mind though, that FF is developed constantly, and security updates much more frequent. We're still going to be subjected to the long wait time for security fixes when it is released, so I'd stick to FF in my opinion. Microsoft just don't seem to have the dedication to keep up support for Internet Explorer, unlike the FF team.
