  1. Review - Trillian

    4.1.0.20 Beta (Jan 6, 2010)

I was interested in trying this since people were saying it's better than Digsby, but even after changing the skin to the classic style, it just doesn't seem as usable. When you have Facebook, MySpace, Messenger and a few email accounts set up, Digsby, for all the issues people have with it, is just a lot more manageable and nicer to maneuver. Plus, I couldn't connect to the MySpace chat because I don't have a MySpace URL set up, which isn't a problem with Digsby (I could connect to Facebook Chat just fine). Checking mail is far superior in Digsby. I think it comes down to preference, and I use the 'lite' Digsby installer ( http://update.digsby.com/install/digsby_setup.exe ) so I haven't experienced all the bloat people complain about.

  2. Review - Mp3tag

    2.45a (Dec 1, 2009)

Amazing tagging software, makes organizing a collection sooo much easier. Especially if you go to the forums and get or update the scripts people write for it. You still have to tweak things your own way, but at least it's not as unfriendly as foobar2000!. I'd also highly recommend Album Art Downloader (for grabbing covers), Mixmeister BPM analyzer if you want BPMs tagged, and the lyricsplugin ( http://www.hydrogenaudio...dex.php?showtopic=62821) for getting lyrics in foobar2000 (I think the lyricswiki part is broken; also remember to set the lyrics to store in the UNSYNCEDLYRICS field for compatibility). I also use foobar2000 for setting replaygain in tags.

  3. Review - Bullzip PDF Printer

    7.0.0.928 (Dec 1, 2009)

This program isn't well know for some reason, but I tested it against the other options and like it the best. Especially after some of the tasks I've had to run where functionality I hadn't thought of with other apps was far easier with Bullzip. I'm glad I found it. The default size/quality ratio seems the best among the free pdf printers too. Jut remember to install GhostScript which is on their info page first.

  4. Review - AM-DeadLink

    4.0 Beta 1 (Dec 1, 2009)

Still no Firefox 3 support! I did find a Firefox addon finally, CheckPlaces ( http://www.andyhalford.com/checkplaces/ ), that has most of the functionality though, such as restoring favicons, checking for duplicates and dead links. So I've switched to that and I'm happy with it.

  5. Review - Nero Lite

    8.3.13.0 Build 1.18.0.1 (Dec 23, 2008)

This is great because if you do already use Nero, you can do an install without all the bloat. This should be done by Nero themselves though! Pretty sad that someone else has to release it instead...if this was how Nero was officially released, it wouldn't have lost nearly as much of its popularity.

  6. Comment - Microsoft CEO Ballmer forced to testify about Vista, for three hours

    8.3.13.0 Build 1.18.0.1 (Nov 24, 2008 - 5:39 PM)

I can see the video now: "DEPOSITIONERS DEPOSITIONERS DEPOSITIONERS DEPOSITIONERS!"

  7. Comment - Microsoft preps gamers for the Xbox Experience

    8.3.13.0 Build 1.18.0.1 (Oct 9, 2008 - 5:09 PM)

Well, I could be wrong...I think that happened once before. But here's a link I found that has a bit of info: http://xbox360.qj.net/Ma...se-it-/pg/49/aid/122402

  8. Comment - Microsoft preps gamers for the Xbox Experience

    8.3.13.0 Build 1.18.0.1 (Oct 9, 2008 - 3:52 PM)

From what I've read, you can choose to stay with the classic interface. So the avatars and stuff would be voluntary.

  9. Comment - Google CEO cites 'a natural fear of things getting larger'

    8.3.13.0 Build 1.18.0.1 (Sep 18, 2008 - 7:21 PM)

I think it may be more of a natural fear of trusting CEO's of large corporations to do the fair thing for competition. Of course, it must be 'fair' if they can find a loophole in regulations or bypass them altogether.

  10. Comment - Apple slaps 'chrome' on the back of iPod Touch, remakes nano

    8.3.13.0 Build 1.18.0.1 (Sep 9, 2008 - 3:49 PM)

Haha, what a leap forward...back in my day I had to walk around playing my death metal from cassette on a dictaphone!
