  1. Review - Alcohol 52% Free Edition

    1.9.8.7612 (Aug 12, 2009)

Free version of 1.9.8.7612 doesn't work in Windows 7 RTM yet, but it is supposed to be fixed in the next free release. Otherwise, a solid and stable program, with enough features but not bloated.

  2. Review - Avi2Dvd

    0.4.4 Beta (Jul 10, 2006)

Didn't work for the mkv I was trying to convert,
and fubared my codecs for playback.

  3. Comment - Is Apple No. 1 and not No. 3 in U.S. PC shipments?

    0.4.4 Beta (Oct 18, 2010 - 4:49 PM)

I guess that makes my PDA from 2000 a PC too, since it was more powerful than a PC made 10 years before it...and my old calculator watch had more power than the computers that sent astronauts into space, I guess that watch was a supercomputer.

  4. Comment - Apple hosting October 10 event: Is the king of the beasts the next version of OS X?

    0.4.4 Beta (Oct 18, 2010 - 4:31 PM)

Because then everyone and their mother would be talking about how it was their mom's operating system when she feels like going out on the prowl at coffee shops, or how OS X is past is getting old but still has some action left in it, or....

  5. Comment - Toshiba's hard drive breakthough could herald mega-capacity drives

    0.4.4 Beta (Aug 23, 2010 - 5:28 PM)

I really think the only solution to that is an incremental, nightly backup system, that only needs to transfer changed and new data. Going on one year with my WHS server and wondering how I ever managed without it.

  6. Comment - Windows 7 adoption surpasses Vista use, Mac OS flat

    0.4.4 Beta (Aug 2, 2010 - 3:18 PM)

"Most grumbling about 7 reminds me of grumbling about XP, and now people love XP so much that they want to keep it as long as possible."

Same here. I actually grumbled about XP; I thought the rounded windows and transparency support needed for them to exist was a waste of resources. However, since Aero actually utilizes the modern graphics hardware (that would otherwise be unused) for it's bells and whistles, there is nothing to complain about in that regard.

  7. Comment - Researchers find 80 different Android wallpaper apps skimming sensitive data

    0.4.4 Beta (Jul 30, 2010 - 2:44 PM)

Imagine that, an app that changes your wallpaper for you doing something fishy. Who would've thought?

    Oh, wait...
