   Well, technically speaking, it's based off the Win2k core and the only major difference is that there is a new GUI. That's pretty much what would sap all your processor and RAM. Other than that, if you disable the new GUI and go back to the "classic" look, then it's Win2k with a few new features...

2. Comment - Microsoft: We Use FreeBSD

   I could be very wrong on this and correct me if I am... But I was under the impression that even if you have an ATA100 hard drive, the most that a hard drive actually utilizes is around 48 at which point the hard drive is the bottleneck... (Or something along those lines...)

3. Comment - Microsoft to Revamp Whistler Interface

   In terms of Microsoft betas, the beta series of any product are where MS puts in new features or refines old ones. The Release Candidates are where Microsoft goes and cleans out all the bugs. So from this, I don't see why Microsoft WOULDN'T put in a new UI.
