  1. Review - LibreOffice for Windows

    3.6.0 (Aug 10, 2012)

Used this software suite many years, since it's original OOo from version 1.1, and switched to Libre at the fork. Always been great, and has been better that M$ Office for quite some time. New version looks and runs great. Hope to see more Publisher compatibility eventually. Load time has become much snappier as Libre has matured.

  2. Review - VirtualBox

    4.0.8.71778 (May 20, 2011)

Finally, usb working on the win version. Been using this for years now. Always works pretty good, except for usb support has traditionally been a problem. I use Virtualbox to run a seperate os, with all my specialized work related software installed. (Telcom support). There has been no usb problems withe the Linux version, so I often dual-boot with Linux, just to run Virtualbox, without usb issues. Except Linux doesn't support my modem very well without the paid drivers, and I use a modem still to connect to some older PABX equipment. I'm glad they have finally solved the Win usb issue, at least for me. It simplifies things a great deal.

  3. Review - OpenOffice.org for Windows

    3.2.1 (Jul 11, 2010)

Most of my TT system ffonts were unregistered in Vista after installing. Made the alignment of the text appear differently in Microsoft Word, and OpenOffice. Had to re-register fonts in the fonts folder.

  4. Review - OpenOffice.org for Windows

    3.0.1 RC2 (Jan 18, 2009)

    3.0.1 RC2

Great suite, and I've used it for many years now. This release however, is corrupting my files with tables when I save in .doc format for Word. Apparent when I open them in actual Word.

  5. Review - RoboForm

    6.9.92 (Dec 27, 2008)

I've been a Roboform user for many years, and nothing ever tops it. Great job to the team, and now they are even offering a version for my Blackberry. Awesome!

  6. Comment - Patch to a patch of a Microsoft patch needs patching

    6.9.92 (Dec 20, 2007 - 12:07 AM)

Some people have not upgraded to XP yet, and cannot use IE7. Win ME and before cannot use IE7. FF however is and excellent alternative in these machines.

Survey was straightforward and simple. I use Betanews a lot, and have been a member for a long time. I would go so far as to say that it is my first and foremost technological news and information resource.
