  1. Review - PC Tools Firewall Plus

    5.0.0.36 (Dec 15, 2008)

What a waste. Doesn't support 64-bit Vista. Is Symantec the only company that knows how to create a high quality firewall that works perfectly in 64-bit Vista regardless of whether or not Vista Service Pack 1 or 2 Beta is installed?

  2. Review - IE7pro

    2.4.4 (Dec 10, 2008)

It's about time that someone made a decent ad blocker for IE, but Privoxy is already available and just as easy to set up. It's better just to use Firefox with Adblock Plus. Firefox has always been a better web browser than Internet Explorer. It uses much less system resources too.

  3. Review - Mozilla Thunderbird (v3.1) for Windows

    3.0 Beta 1 (Dec 10, 2008)

This is an excellent e-mail program if you have multiple e-mail accounts to manage. Otherwise Google's gmail is better in every way.

As for privacy, nobody respects people's privacy better than Google.

  4. Review - DriverMax

    4.6 (Oct 19, 2008)

Doesn't seem to work in 64-bit Vista. Also, the program incorrectly identifies my Logitech G7 mouse driver as being out of date. My Logitech G7 mouse driver is version 4.60.42.0. DriverMax recommends I install the original generic Microsoft mouse driver that came with Windows Vista because the version number is 6.0.6001.18000.

  5. Review - Google Chrome for Windows

    0.3.154.3 Beta (Oct 17, 2008)

There is no such thing as a better browser than Google Chrome. Ad blocking is available free of charge by using Privoxy. Since each tab and window is a separate process this means that if the Adobe Acrobat plugin crashes it won't bring the whole web browser down with it like with IE, Safari, Opera and Firefox. Chrome also has faster rendering times and better rendering quality than any other web browser.

Strangely enough, when I try to download a 4GB DVD image Chrome gives me a message stating the file is too large and refuses to download the file. This is the only major bug I've found so far.

@Zodiachus - My Windows partition is formatted as NTFS. The 4GB file download problem I'm referring to has nothing to do with the file system being used. It is a Google Chrome bug. I can download 4GB files just fine with IE and Firefox.

  6. Comment - Opera 10 Final released, bringing back 'turbo' mode

    0.3.154.3 Beta (Sep 2, 2009 - 8:26 PM)

  7. Comment - Opera 10 Final released, bringing back 'turbo' mode

    0.3.154.3 Beta (Sep 1, 2009 - 11:20 PM)

True, but Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome are all designed for the whole world and they don't need a turbo mode to give blazing fast performance world wide.

  8. Comment - Opera 10 Final released, bringing back 'turbo' mode

    0.3.154.3 Beta (Sep 1, 2009 - 8:37 PM)

Is this a mobile phone browser or a desktop web browser? Desktop computers don't need a "turbo mode". Very few people use dialup Internet anymore.

  9. Comment - Google calls Gmail outage 'minor issue', but thousands beg to differ

    0.3.154.3 Beta (Sep 1, 2009 - 6:43 PM)

This is NOT a minor issue. There is no reason that any web based service with the Google name on it should ever fail.

  10. Comment - Home opens its doors for the PS3

    0.3.154.3 Beta (Dec 13, 2008 - 6:00 AM)

The PS3 is no sinking ship. While Home is a great feature, the PS3 doesn't need it to be a great console since it can play games and movies in high definition. There is no other console on the market that begins to compare with the PS3. Serious gamers and movie watchers would be insane not to buy a PS3. The price is perfectly reasonable too considering the hardware in the PS3 will not be obsolete anytime soon.
