Despite what some of the self-proclaimed "experts" claim, I find the utility indispensable for my setup. It does what it is designed to do very well and unobtrusively.
I run Win7 Ultimate but also have a couple of older start-up apps that don't always behave when they start right away. By delaying them a few seconds, they work perfectly.
On my laptop, I might delay my email checker a few to allow the wi-fi to connect.
It may not be for everyone, but why slam the program because you don't need it? I find it very useful.
It does what it claims, it's updated frequently, it's free, and deserves 5 stars..
5.4 (May 14, 2007)
5.4 is now Shareware.
It's a very good app, but there are other good freeware utilities out there if you just use this occasionally. Price dropped this from a 5 (excellent) utility to a 3 (value).
4.0 (Mar 24, 2007)
If you have v3, KEEP IT!
This version is bad. The widgets do not reload in the same location, if they show at all.
11.0 Build 6 (Sep 27, 2006)
The best IE based browser around gets better and better.
Search engine?
Just go to TOOLS/Avant Browser Options/Search Engine
You can choose whichever one you want.
Heck, you can choose any 5 you want.
Useless URL bar??
Drag the search tool bar to the same row as the MENU bar.
Your URL bar will be full width.
Assuming you're not in Compact mode.
It's all about options.
You have access to all the IE options PLUS a multitude of AB options.
(Maybe too many for some people to handle)
