FileZilla's GUI is pretty standard when compare to any other FTP program out there that I've tried. It's easy to use and easy to set up plus it's FREE!
No adware, no spyware, no trialware... plain and simply free.

Poor quality? LOL!
Thunderbird is simply the best FREE FREE FREE email client available. It's probably better than most scamware (shareware) clients as well. It also handles newsgroups.
