  1. Review - Avira Free Antivirus

    7.06.00.268 (Feb 13, 2008)

u know what i love are the ppl who rate avast and avg over antivir. its funny because neither avg or avast has as good a detection rate as antivir ((avg is rated poorest anti-virus around)). neither avast or avg scan as quickly either.

so basically choosing avg would be saying, "i dont need as much protection as possible. i dont even mind viruses"

choosing avast is saying "i dont mind the slow scans, and the nag during updating."

i love the ppl who say "well antivir has too many false positives". ok so its better that an antivirus misses some viruses then it detect something as "generic"? common sense would tell you that the generic is prolly not a virus rather an application running that isnt in the database yet. better safe than sorry, choosing the other 2 is saying "better sorry, than safe".

and to the dumb a** who calls antivir's pop-up as adware, its not. its part of the program itself. adware is a malicious code installed, moving banners ((ie what windows live messenger has)), or products that install or ask to be installed from other companies ((ie trillian with the optional tool bars)). also not all adware will hurt your pc, i dont see ppl complain much about windows live messenger, i dont see them complaining about trillian. both advertise or have optional installation of third-party products.

  2. Review - Comodo Firewall Pro

    3.0.16.295 (Feb 13, 2008)

better? not many better in leak protection, and no free full fledged firewall rates higher on firewall leak tests. comodo's 2.4 version ranked 3rd on the firewall leak tests. only outpost and online armor rated higher. outpost isnt free, online armor's firewall is only a limited freeware version. both those firewalls are newest versions while comodo's isnt and still rated 3rd.

so tell me your definition of better? if your definition of better isnt best protection possible then u should just stick to windows built in firewall. not all paid is better than freeware, and im sure when comodo's 3.0 is tested it will be number 1 firewall on leak tests.

  3. Review - SUMo

    1.6.0.37 (Feb 12, 2008)

last time i tried this id of given it a 3 because it had a ton of false updates. this time it detected 55 programs and only 2 ((both part of comodo firewall 3.0)) was wrong. i think thats comodo's fault tho as their listed at 1.0 rather than 3, while sumo was showing 2.4 available

on a side note, id like to say i used to use filehippo's update checker which was great but required the bulky .NET Framework 2.0. this doesnt require any other software to use it adding to its greatness.

  4. Review - µTorrent for Windows

    1.8 Build 7928 Alpha (Jan 24, 2008)

this now sux a** where it was great before bittorrent bought it out now uTorrent sold out to a sell out. nice huh.

aking, azureus isnt the best but its better than using a torrent made by a company who watches your every move. a sell out like bittorrent who was made famous by illegal has no right to play god.

halite and deluge r better than azureus and now better than uTorrent.

sorry meant to hit 1 tho 0 wouldve been a better rating

  5. Review - Halite

    0.3 (Jan 24, 2008)

no s*** to the guy who said this would have lower ratings if utorrent hadnt been bought out.

almost every torrent client would have a lower rating had uTorrent decided not to sell out.

look at what we have here now between open source ((best way to go because everyone can develop them and safest)).

Deluge: high potential but is huge like over 30 mbs installed and isnt as stable on windows as it is on linux systems ((where it was made on))

Azureus: java based making it a resource hog and now has the s***ty Zuedo added to it, i mean i think they want us to use 100% resources and its basically their "legal" way to get away with adding adware without calling it that. its bloatwear city in azureus land.

Torrent Swapper: a new one hasnt been released in over a year.

Halite: id say has 2nd best potential to Deluge. deluge's plug-in system is what makes it a great torrent even being able to download blocklists directly to it. halite is far smaller, and is updated more between the 2. so while deluge might have the most potential, halite might have the best chance to reach theirs.
