  1. Comment - Cutting cable's cord isn't easy

What are you paying $100/mo for phone service for? I know some people need a basic land line for their alarm system, and some of these systems can't use VoIP, so they're stuck with a land line.

If you don't need a land line, but need a home phone, why not go with magicJack? It's $20/year and it's the same as a land line... with call waiting, voicemail, etc. What I did was purchase a phone with satellite phones; they work as if the base phone was plugged in to a land line.

  2. Comment - Will someone please develop an anti-texting-while-driving app?

Unfortunately I don't think this will ever come to fruition.

The app will have to be able to prevent texting in one circumstance: while driving. How do you determine whether a person is driving? It can't be just whether they are traveling a certain speed. What if they are a passenger in a car... can they not text then? What if they are a student on a bus... can they not text then?

What happens if you voluntarily turn off the GPS?

  4. Comment - Like browser tabs? Now you can have them in Microsoft Office

    (May 24, 2011 - 9:52 PM)

Yeah, the orange is the one I picked. I had that box unchecked, so I'm not sure what was happening. At home with Windows 7 and Office 2007 it works as it should. Perhaps it's either an Office 2007/Win XP thing, or maybe it's an add-in I have installed screwing with it.

Ok, so this doesn't work with XP / Office 2007. I thought the tabs for each file would be present; they're not. I have to click a little Excel icon to switch between the files, and it's a Restore function to parse out the windows... it's not tabbed "browsing" as advertised on their website (or even in the settings).

I'll try it at home where I have Windows 7 and will report back later.
