  1. Review - VLC (VideoLAN) for Windows

    0.8.6 Test 2 (Nov 18, 2006)

Whilst I agree with Coolticker's review re:Gomplayer - top program for what it can do. VLC still plays with no probs on Vista.

GOMP has some minor "compatibility" issues, picked up by Vista. GOMP still works, after bypassing the "compatibility" dialog prompts, as shown; http://img467.imageshack...7/5278/gomplayereo9.jpg.

  2. Review - Vuze for Windows

    2.5.0.1 Beta 17 (Oct 30, 2006)

i agree with photonboy [a regular BN reviewer] : i thought it was just me, however there is a HUGE diff in Azureus run in Vista mode than XP, a marked improvement of speed and less memory hogging.

i do still use utorrent, however i find it gives me BSOD - have narrowed it down to this product and besides i get better speeds from Az than with uT.

Az just gets better and better and its still FREE!

  3. Review - Foxit Reader

    2.0 Build 0912 (Sep 12, 2006)

To Matt2971 and other Foxit-Reader users...

This great piece of non-bloated [unlike the original PDF maker] is still FREE! It also comes with its "check for updates" function and a PDF printer to save it in a PDF format for printing later.

The website as a web face-lift :^) also.

    +++++++++++
    Free Reader; http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

Foxit Reader 2.0 itself is free. For add-ons, the critical add-ons are free while advanced add-ons are non-free. For example, you can use the following functions for free:
    View or print PDF document
Fill out PDF forms and save them
Convert PDF document into text file
Critical add-ons, such as UI language package, JPEG2000/JBIG decoder, CJK package, GDI+ for early Windows version, etc

The followings are several examples of non-free, advance add-ons:
You can try out annotation tool for free. However when you save the annotated document, it will be stamped with an evaluation mark on the top-right corner of the annotated pages. If you purchase a Pro Pack add-on, then there will be no evaluation mark.

Foxit Converter which allows you to convert non-PDF file into PDF file is non-free.
Foxit Editor which allows you to modify contents of a PDF file is non-free.

Brill.... It works and doesn't lose quality.

  5. Review - Mozilla Firefox (v2) for Windows

    2.0 Beta 2 (Aug 31, 2006)

I do keep coming back to Firefox to see what improvements have been made and find there are a few, however like other FF still likes to use up memory even tho I have a Dual Core AMD 4200+ with 2GIG ram.
Going back to Opera. I do find FF is still friendlier for configuring search engines.
